Plot Twists

Life does not always go the way we expect. While this makes living life fun and exciting, it also makes it sad and painful. One moment, you are happy and on top of the world and the next moment, you are at rock bottom, wailing, holding your cold hands and wishing you could disappear into thin air. You wish you had never existed or that the world had ended. Life is filled with plot twists. The best writers get their plot twists inspiration from life itself. Sometimes things change suddenly and push us in a new direction. My life this year is filled with plot twists. Unexpected turns that made me bow to life and say, “You are the king of them all.”

Maybe I saw it coming; the plot twists. Maybe I knew this year would be filled with many of them, but I pretended not to. Or maybe I chose to ignore the signs it gave me on the first day of the year. I crossed over from 2024 to 2025 with someone I cherish the most; my favorite person in the entire world. We were literally on a call together, cracking jokes, talking about the future and making plans together. It was beautiful. A 2-hour call with my favorite person on the first day of the year. It was about 12 am and I was tired and sleepy. But I had the strength to continue talking because I was with them. It felt heavenly! Beautifully heavenly!

Barely 48 hours after this beautiful moment, that same person who made my tummy tickle with blue butterflies, felt it was right to cut me out of their life. The first crazy plot twist of the year. Life warned me! In the opening days of the year, it whispered into my ears, “This is just the beginning! Expect a lot more. You have successfully subscribed to my channel—” Life. As usual, I did not see that coming. How does someone who tells you that you are their happiness decides to cut you out of their life barely after 48 hours? I survived that plot twist and things got better.

This year, I lost touch with a friend who was there for me when I needed them the most. Maybe I might have seen this one coming, but it didn't happen when I expected it to. A year ago, this person was one of my favorite people on Hive. We talked for hours without getting tired. We laughed. More importantly, we listened and we helped each other. Today, this same person is nowhere to be found around me, and I am nowhere to be found around them.

Again, this year, I found myself in the northern part of my country. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself in the north. I had been hearing many awful things about the north since I was a child. However, I experienced life in the north and it was nothing like what I had been hearing.

Finally, the greatest plot twist that I feel would hunt and hurt me for days happened just barely a few hours ago. I made a decision I never thought I would make. The truth is that I am not sure if I made the right choice. I wish I hadn't, but a part of me wanted to and for some reason, I obeyed that part. Life is filled with crazy plot twists and it is funny how they keep rolling into my life.
