All too soon, another year has come to an end, and a new one has begun. Some of us chalked successes we are proud of and achieved feats we worked hard for. On the other hand, some of us faced numerous challenges and encountered difficult hurdles. Yet still, we maneuvered our way through them and are grateful to be able to see a new year.

No matter what any of us might have faced in the past year, we must remember that, indeed, the year is past and a new one is before us. Another journey has begun ahead of us, and only we can decide how we want this journey to end. Life has given us another chance to make a difference, another opportunity to make every single day count. Forget the mistakes you made in the past year, all the set targets you could not accomplish and all the plans you were unable to bring to fruition. This year begins on a clean slate, and you are the only one who determines what should be written on it.

Take this as another shot to start afresh, to set another ball rolling. You have a chance that others strived for but could not get. Lots of people lost their lives along the line. Many people, unfortunately, could not make it to today, but you did, so do not waste this chance or take it for granted.

Set new goals, write down new resolutions, draw another vision board and devise better strategies to attain your objectives and ambitions for the year. Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Take that step today. Pick up that hobby today. Learn that skill today. Join that gym today. Read that book today. All those items on your bucket list, start to check them off today.

And while you are at it, bear in mind that the road is not going to be all sunshine and rainbows. There will surely be cloudy days, but the sun will definitely shine after the rain. If life knocks you down along the way, pick yourself back up and continue from where you left off. If you must cry, do so. It's okay to break down when you're overwhelmed. What matters most is that you do not stay on the ground, but you rise and you keep moving, you keep working towards your goals. Always remember, life is what you make it, and no one can make your decisions for you but yourself.
