Prompt #17 (Inner Child): Being Part of a Child

Child

There are many reasons that my inner child is being unleashed.

Either in private, public, or spiritual affairs. I thought that it's quite healthy for our mental health. Of course, with moderation, and I'm not afraid of being true to myself because having an inner child means being part of yourself and being one of your personalities.

It's quite endearing to me, to be honest, or being part of your charm.

Public Affair

I admit that we have this sense of childlike wonder or in awe, like seeing a new movie being released, for example.

I do look forward to watching Moana 2 that will release in November, if I remember correctly. After seeing that trailer, I was squealing like a little girl.

I love to see the sequel because I am in awe with the fantasy genre, the Polynesian culture, and how the movie continued forward after their first movie.

Not only Moana 2, but I'm also excited for Princess Diary 3 being confirmed.

I showed my childlike awe and excitement through sharing my Facebook towards my friends and family.

In another public scenario of my life, I have a tendency to do ambush hugs with my close friends and family and also hold their hands and swing around it too. I'm quite an affectionate person, and it's how I express myself without saying a single word.

Private Affairs

I don't even mind showing my geeky side that I loved watching anime, cartoons, and reading Japanese and Korean comics translated into English. I prefer those instead of watching K-dramas, C-dramas, and American series.

I also love to play RPGS, MMORPGs, or video games in private. I don't even mind joining with others playing online. Unfortunately, I mostly play on mobile lately.

Even though I have these childish hobbies and behaviors, I learn in the Bible not to mind people's judgment over me, and it is one of my comfort verses in life. It's in Matthew 7:1–5. (Matthew 7)

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged." For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

In return, I try my best not to judge others carelessly. That's why I want to know that person first, and then I'll discern if I wanted that person to become part of my life.

Spiritual Affair

Jesus even encouraged us to become children, like in Matthew 18:3-5. (Matthew 18 KJV)

and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

To be like a little child means knowing how to be humble, trusting, and forgiving easily, and there's an interesting and simple explanation in Matthew Henry's commentary that I found. (Matthew Henry Commentary)

Children, when very young, do not desire authority, do not regard outward distinctions, are free from malice, are teachable, and are willingly dependent on their parents. It is true that they soon begin to show other dispositions, and other ideas are taught to them at an early age; but these are marks of childhood and render them proper emblems of the lowly minds of true Christians. Surely we need to be daily renewed in the spirit of our minds so that we may become simple and humble, as little children, and willing to be the least of all. Let us daily study this subject and examine our own spirits.
