The study says that 1 in 3 Ohioans may work from home after the pandemic. It could mean big changes for cities like Cincinnati.

For many cities, the loss of an earnings tax will result in fewer resources for public safety and infrastructure.

That tax is paid by people who work within city limits. If people transition to work from home, outside of city limits, that money would be lost. Cincinnati’s earnings tax is 1.8%, one of the lowest in the state. However, according to the report, Cincinnati could stand to lose $43 million in tax revenue on the high end to $15.7 million on the low end.
