I took a ride to my mentor's place yesterday and after we finished praying, we stepped out to do a lil sanitation..
On stepping out, He brought out this local broom called ndiyang and it took me back memory lane, it took me to my village days..
This was the best broom ever as at then and I'm sure its the same till now..
My late uncle taught me how to use it, infact he forced me to use it, at first it didnt make much sense but i later realised its better than the broom..
To find this broom you'll have to go into the thick bush or maybe forest but most times down the stream to cut it.
I was always scared of bushes but with the help of my friends, we would go there together, cut down its stems, bind them in bunches and when i mean bunches, big ones, then we carry them home..
On getting home, we position them for their different purposes, the backyard will have one same as the frontyard..
While our neighbours are using their short broom to sweep a large place in hours, we'll use ndiyang to sweep these places in minutes..
The longer your lines are, to it shows how good you are with the ndiyang..
You must have a mastery of how to use it.
You must bend so low to achieve the beauty of it.
Unfortunately, the only advantage it has is that, it will not last as long as the normal broom and when it deteriorates , it becomes just a stick and a times when we get stubborn, my uncle will use it to flog the hell out of us..
Its amazing how God made these things and give it multiple functions, truly his works are good.
