THE SIN OF COVETOUSNESS || EL PECADO DE LA CODICIA

Covetousness is the main problem both in the Church of God and in the world today. Worldliness too has become a big enemy of the Church and it seems a lot of Christians (not considering how long they have been in the faith), are being carried along. This may be because even they are falling into this sinful habit.

The Lord Jesus let us know the danger covetousness in Luke 12:15. Covetousness can be defined as an excessive desire for material or non-material things, most especially those of another person. In Exodus 20:17, the Almighty God warns against coveting someone else’s property or spouse. There is vanity in being covetous because we are going nowhere with it.

Apostle Paul wrote Timothy to warn hime against the danger of worldliness and covetousness. He advice Christians to embrace godliness with contentment which is great gain.

How far have you been pulled into the world?, How far has the world been pulled into you? Are you not pursuing after those things that are not important to you years ago?. Even the wealthy people are now running into the Church of God; they want peace and satisfaction.

They envy Christians, and want to share in our heritage, and also want the peace we have. While they are running to God for peace and joy, a lot of us have thrown away these blessings that all the whole money in the world can't buy, for the vanity of this world. Just stay where the Lord has established you

La codicia es el problema principal tanto en la Iglesia de Dios como en el mundo de hoy. La mundanalidad también se ha convertido en un gran enemigo de la Iglesia y parece que muchos cristianos (sin considerar cuánto tiempo han estado en la fe) están siendo arrastrados. Esto puede deberse a que incluso ellos están cayendo en este hábito pecaminoso.

El Señor Jesús nos hizo saber el peligro de la codicia en Lucas 12:15. La codicia se puede definir como un deseo excesivo de cosas materiales o inmateriales, muy especialmente las de otra persona. En Éxodo 20:17, el Dios Todopoderoso advierte contra codiciar la propiedad o el cónyuge de otra persona. Hay vanidad en ser codicioso porque no vamos a ninguna parte con ello.

El apóstol Pablo escribió a Timoteo para advertirle contra el peligro de la mundanalidad y la codicia. Aconseja a los cristianos que adopten la piedad con contentamiento, lo cual es una gran ganancia. ¿Hasta dónde has sido atraído hacia el mundo?, ¿Hasta dónde ha sido atraído el mundo hacia ti? ¿No estás persiguiendo esas cosas que no eran importantes para ti hace años? Incluso la gente adinerada ahora corre hacia la Iglesia de Dios; quieren paz y satisfacción.

Envidian a los cristianos y quieren compartir nuestra herencia, y también quieren la paz que tenemos. Mientras ellos corren hacia Dios en busca de paz y gozo, muchos de nosotros hemos tirado por la borda estas bendiciones que ni todo el dinero del mundo puede comprar, por la vanidad de este mundo. Solo quédate donde el Señor te ha establecido.
