When you seek to please God and you still love the evil token of righteousness; you can really never get through with God. You have to utterly despise the path of unrighteousness, if you truly seek to make progress on the highway of holiness. When the light of the glorious gospel shines you’re your heart; you will discover there is nothing you are losing staying off the path of iniquity.
The Bible says in Romans 6:20-22 – “For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit hath ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now being made free unto sin, and become servants to God, ye you’re your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life”. There is nothing to glory about in a life of sinfulness. There is nothing to regret leaving sin and that is why deliverance from a life of sinfulness is a celebration.
If you see to advance in your walk with God and to live holy before the Lord; you will have to first and foremost “hate every false way”. You will have to develop hatred for sin in all its forms and ramifications. It is not easy to be drawn or pulled by what you hate.
You cannot go to a grocery shop and buy what you know you really hate. If you hate it and you buy it, how do you eat it? If you truly hate sin, it will be difficult for you to be drawn to it. If you still cherish how it used to be and what you use to do, there is no exit route for you out of it. Once it becomes nauseating to you, you will resent the very thought of it and nothing about it makes meaning to you anymore.
Until you learn to hate every false way with perfect hatred, you will not cease to live in falsehood. Deliverance from the bondage of any evil habit begins with this first and important step; hatred! No matter who prays for you, no matter the efforts you expend to get out of it, you will have to first of all develop hatred for it.
If there is a bit of anything you still cherish about it, you will remain trapped in it. If you cherish anything about it, no matter the distance you seem to have kept from it; it is all a matter of time. You will revert back to it, because the bit of it you cherish remains a string trying you to it.
