So much happens when you go praising and thanking God. One thing God can’t stand is our praise. It seems to me that praise moves God like no other thing does. When an alliance of three enemy nations came against Judah in battle; Jehoshaphat king of Judah went before the Lord and cried and said – “neither know what to do, but our eyes are on Thee” 2 Chronicles 20:12. The Lord assured him of victory over their enemies and the next day, Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go before the army of Israel to praise and worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness. Scriptures record that as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambush against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, which had come against Judah and they were smitten.
Take note of the fact that nothing happened until they began to sing and to praise. Perhaps you are still thinking about the severity of your situation; the symptoms in your body, business indices suggesting you are going under: as long as you keep thinking all that, the situation is not likely to change. There is a positive change earmarked for you as you go praising and thanking. It is not going to come as you keep grumbling and complaining, it is not going to come as you keep thinking and doubting; it is sure to come as you go thanking and praising God.
Supplication is not enough; it has to be accompanied with thanksgiving. The Bible says that, “By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God” Philippians 4:6. When you make supplications in the light of God’s Word and you go ahead and thank Him, it is an expression of faith indicating what you know so well; that God has taken it up already and that victory is sure. When you move in this assurance, you will never find God to fail because He remains a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
