JESUS: LAWYER, MEDIATOR AND INTERCESSOR

in HeartChurch4 years ago

God's promises are hope for the world and God in his infinite love planned everything perfectly so that through his son Jesus Christ we believers could make those promises come true and we could access the role that our Lord Jesus plays before the father as the The Bible states that he is our advocate, mediator, and advocate. What a privilege! having Jesus Christ and exercising these wonderful functions in our lives when we believe his word.

1John 2: 1
Christ our advocate
2 My little children, these things I write to you so that you may not sin; and if anyone has sinned, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
(RVR1960)

Jesus the advocate, he is our advocate our defender and in this verse although John's purpose is to keep his readers from sin, he knows that at some point temptation may succumb. In His grace, God has made a double provision to restore Christians who have sinned.
First he has appointed Jesus as advocate to intercede for sinners; forgiveness is sure because Jesus is just.
Second, God has sent Jesus as a propitiation for our sins.

1 Timothy 2: 5-6
5 For there is only one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ,
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, of which he testified in due time.
(RVR1960)

Jesus is also our mediator and the Bible testifies that there is also only one God who is the maker, preserver, and ruler of all. Jesus Christ is the one who mediates between God and us. He does not place himself as a third person between God and us, but reveals the father and his goodness when we need his help for our weaknesses.

In the same way, Jesus is also our number one intercessor before the father, only he is the one who will act as judge over the whole world, but he will not condemn us; even now, He intercedes for us; that is, it brings the petitions before God.

Romans 8:34
34 Who is he that condemns? Christ is the one who died; more than that, the one who was raised from the dead, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
(RVR1960)

For any discouraged Christian these powerful verses today offer the assurances of the love of Christ, present at every moment the life of the believer because even in the midst of difficulties we will be more than conquerors.

¡WITH LOTS OF LOVE!
