My BFF forda go: Marlyn's Birthday Celebration

Hey Hivers, and welcome back to my blog! Whether you're a seasoned reader or a curious newcomer, I'm thrilled to have you here. For those of you who haven't met me yet, I'm @patrixx21, and this is where I share my thoughts, experiences and adventures.

Marlyn, also known as my BFF forda go, always supports me through my craziness and life's happenings. My best friend's birthday celebration is so chaotic. Days before her birthday, I was the one she first invited to come to their house for a small birthday celebration for her 18th. I said yes right away, because why not? It's my best friends big day, and my gift for her is already wrapped.

Then, we talked about who else she invited. She then said she would invite our other friends, but she invited me first because I'm her best friend. She didn't want to upset me by inviting the others first and leaving me for last. I felt grateful for that because she always prioritizes my feelings.

When I found out Marlyn was busy and doing other things, I hurriedly went to Chuss Lee to ask about her present for Marlyn. I already had a gift, but I was overthinking it, worried that Marlyn wouldn't like the dress I bought. Chuss Lee then reassured me, saying, "You know Marlyn. Everything is fine with her as long as it's from your heart. Above all, she will definitely love it because it's from you." I felt at ease after that. While Chuss was brainstorming for her own gift, she came up with the idea of a cake to surprise Marlyn. She then contacted her favorite cake shop to make a customized cake with her own design and motif.

Birthdays are milestones, an opportunity to celebrate another year of life and the wonderful person who lives it. This year, I was determined to make my best friend Marilyn's birthday extra special. We had planned a get-together, but I wanted something more, a way to express the depth of our friendship. We already planned out everything and it's all set but things don't always go according to plan.

On the morning of her birthday, she messaged me to say that her birthday celebration wouldn't be able to continue due to a home emergency. I kept asking her what the problem was, but she was hesitant to share. Finally, she explained that her brother wasn't comfortable with people coming to their house.

I suggested alternative options, like going to another venue or just stopping by to greet her and give her gifts. However, she wasn't open to any of them. She preferred to reschedule and receive the gifts the next day. As her friend, I understood her situation and agreed to her request.

Even though I agreed to Marlyn's plan, deep down I really wanted to celebrate my best friend's birthday. She always celebrates mine, after all. I contacted Chuss to see if she'd heard the news about Marlyn having a birthday party anymore. Chuss was shocked because she was already on her way to pick up the cake, and giving the cake the next day wouldn't work – it would melt and lose its appeal.

Chuss questioned the reason behind the change of plans, and I explained everything to her. Like me, she suggested different places for the party, but I told her Marlyn didn't want anything big. Chuss couldn't convince me, so she told our other friends about it and got their opinions.

They kept trying to convince Marlyn through the group chat, but she kept declining. We kept pushing for a celebration with us until she finally got overwhelmed and said we could come to her house. Her mom had already cooked a lot of food, and Marlyn didn't want it to go to waste. She also mentioned not wanting to bother her older brother, emphasizing that it's her day and she wants all the attention to be her's. We all agreed to that.

We, Chuss Lee, Justine, and I decided to meet at Naga, Savemore before heading to Marlyn's place together, as the others would be arriving until later. There's a short walk before you can see Marlyn's house from the road. On the way, we prepared the cake and candles. Just as we were nearing her house, we saw her older sister, who called for Marlyn to let her know we, her friends, had arrived.

Marlyn's initial shock turned into pure delight. Her eyes widened, then ran over with happy tears as she saw the love and effort that went into the surprise. We also sang her a happy birthday. Laughter filled as we hugged and exchanged birthday greetings. Witnessing her genuine joy was the ultimate reward for all the preparation.

We chit-chat, catching up until our other friends and Sir Mandal joined us. The evening filled with comfort, with the warmth of good company with the person closed to your heart. We reminisced about past adventures, shared laughter over inside jokes, and dine on the birthday feast. Stories were exchanged, and the room echo with a joyful energy.

As she blown up the candles, a wave of warmth rush over me. It wasn't just about the cake; it was about making a memory that would hopefully be treasured as much as the one it referred to. This surprise party was more than just for Marlyn's birthday; it was also a celebration of our friendship. It was a night full of laughter, love, and shared memories, showing the incredible bond we have. And I believe this is the greatest gift of all.

As the night came to a close, everyone hugged each other and promised to make time for the next time and do it over again. Marlyn, shine with joy, thanked everyone for making her birthday so memorable. That's why I love to be around these people with me because they are so simple and pure. It was a simple celebration, but the genuine love and effort showed through, making it truly memorable.
