Jacob’s 10th Birthday

My son is my little ray of sunshine. He is the reason I work hard and do my best in all that I do because I know I have someone who constantly looks up to me. We celebrated his 10th birthday at Molobolo Spring in Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines. How times flies so fast indeed! Who would have thought? My little baby just turned ten! Can someone please tell me where did all the time go?

Every year, we really held a birthday party for my son, Jacob. He chooses the themes he gets to have every year. For this 10th birthday, he chose Roblox. He wanted a Roblox-themed birthday and we made it possible.

I printed out a Roblox-themed tarpaulin stating our birthday greetings for him. I chose the best pictures of him to be posted in the tarpaulin.

Since we celebrated in Molobolo Spring, Tuburan, we booked three cottages amounting eight hundred pesos each. The cottages are not that new and are made of light materials as seen on the photos below.

Dad and the birthday boy. Ever since Jscob was born, dad goes home here in the Philippines every November and stays for two months.

This year is one of the most special birthday my son gets to celebrate because it is the first time I paid for everything. For the foods, the cottages, the cake, the ice cream, the drinks and everything. Since I got my teaching job in the Department of Education, I saved up my salary for this momentous occasion, my son’s 10th birthday.

Over the past nine years, my dad is the one who pays for the birthday parties of my son, but this year, I am already financially capable to do it so I did it myself and I could not be even prouder. As a mother, we always want what is best for our child. Especially during celebrations like birthdays, we always do our best to grant our child’s birthday wishes.

Before we had our lunch, we offered our prayer and gratitude, then we had a family picture. Me, my mother, my stepfather, my son, my partner and my brother.

If I were to choose, I really want to have an intimate celebration with just me and my family alone, but since we are used to inviting a lot of friends and extended families, it became something we do and look forward every year. It is the perfect time to be reunited with family and other friends. I am so happy they all came to celebrate with us.

After our family photo, my son, Jacob, blew his birthday candle but made a wish, prior to that, on his beautifully and meticulously made birthday cake from a famous home baker in Bogo City which was delivered here in Tuburan. The travel time takes about one hour and a half. I appreciate the effort they made to make sure the cake arrives here on time and in good shape.

Not only is his birthday cake aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, but it also tasted so good. We order from this home baker every year.

After my son made a wish and blew his birthday candle, it was time for all the children present to have a picture. Most of the children here are our cousins, some are family friends and some are daughters and sons of my co-teachers in Tuburan National High School.

After the pictorial of the children, we then ate lunch. The lechon skin was still so crispy and it was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed all the other viands also.

But the boys jamp to the cold spring directly after they ate. They could not wait to take a dip in the freezing waters of Molobolo Spring. Molobolo Spring is one of the most famous cold springs in the province of Cebu.

Not only the kids had so much fun, but also the adults.

My son enojoyed swimming with his uncle and cousins. They had so much fun swimming around. The cold spring has a huge swimming area for everyone to enjoy.

These men are my partner’s colleagues when he used to be a Maxim driver in Cebu City back then. They have a group where they call themselves the Exclusive Riders Club or the ERC. They are all Maxim drivers. I am friends also with all of their partners and wives whom did not came with them since they were also busy at work. I really appreciate that they came here in Tuburan all the way from Cebu City to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday.

These lovely women are my aunts and my mother. A visit here in Molobolo Spring is totally incomplete without a picture in this logo so they indeed made sure they have their own entry. This is just one of the million poses they had in the Molobolo Spring logo.

My aunts are also busy with work but from Tabogon, they came all the way here to Tuburan to celebrate with us. I really appreciate everyone’s presence today.

Since I got hired at Tuburan National High School, I wanted to explore the place and let my family and friends discover the beautiful town also. That is why I chose to celebrate my son’s birthday here at Molobolo Spring, Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines.

This bunch is my colleagues from Tuburan National High School, in the photos are teachers and their partners who have turned to our real-life friends. Staying in a completely new town is really challenging, but with the help of these lovely people, we were able to adjust to the environment effortlessly.

My aunts and uncles striked a pose while enjoying the cold beer and the never-ending stories of one another. This day is an opportunity for us to bond with family members closest to our hearts.

Apart from the cold spring, there is an entire sea just located near the spring. The water from the spring goes here directly to the sea and this spot is also the best spot to chill if you are already cold from the spring. We enjoyed drinking beer and sharing each other’s laughter and company.

If you are a sea-lover rather than a cold spring-lover, this spot at Molobolo is best for you. This is just a walking distance from the cold spring. The sound of the waves will really sooth to your soul and make your mind more relaxed.

Another visitor we had was my friend and his husband who traveled all the way from Talisay City. They came here just to celebrate my son’s birthday with us and I truly appreciate the effort they exerted.

Seeing everybody show up for my son despite one’s hectic schedule and distance made me realize that there are indeed a lot of people who loves us and it is a core reminder to keep our loved ones closer as always.

I am thankful I get to host this birthday celebration of my son and they told me, they all had so much fun. As a mother, nothing makes me happy more than seeing my child happy. My heart is so full.
