CHILDHOOD YEARS

When we were kids, we used to draw various wonders of the world, be they natural or man-made, like waterfalls, lush mountains, tall buildings, big houses, trees, and, to top it all, flowers. They were alluring and cool to look at. As young kids we couldn't ignore the truth that there were very few occasions when we yearn to travel or visit another country to witness its beauty personally. Until digital phones were born, we could now browse the internet for different beautiful spots anywhere we wanted, capture them, and save them to the gallery.

We almost fastened our eyes on it because such beauty was so phenomenal to behold. That's why, when there were events in the province (Tabuelan, Cebu), we were so excited to travel because we could view the local scenery of the place once again and make a point of looking around and seeing some things to get shots of. While we enjoyed the beauty and solitude of the quiet, idyllic setting more than ever,

AFTER 37 YEARS

A tightened up 14-hour travel from Cebu Philippines to Auckland New Zealand, with stopover in Sydney Australia.

Finally, arriving at their 12° C destination.

Who would have thought that a poor child, after 3 decades and 7 years, would be residing in Auckland City, New Zealand, with her family today ? Definitely from Tabuelan (our permanent resident address) to New Zealand. Surprisingly, the news broke the silence one night after hearing it. We all experienced the serendipity of having a big announcement come just when we least expected it and, at the same time, utterly delighted beyond measure for my sister.

FAMILY STRUGGLES-REWIND

Rosalinda Senarlo Sadang is the only younger sister of mine, aside from Sherdel, our brother, since we have three siblings in the family. Rosalinda, or inday, as we call her, got married on August 4, 2012. After a year of their marriage, Terence and her husband flew to Japan as OFW. Life was then hard because relationship was extensively distant. The distance in space and time made them both lonely, worried, and apprehensive due to some inescapable problem sometimes. Especially when Terence had difficulty in terms of tedious adjustments in another country.

Fortunate we are, since the birth of the internet age, Facebook and Messenger, which had cost less, became their access to see, talk, greet, and send regards to each other. For Terence, it was of great advantage to at least be relieved from being sad and alone in a foreign land, from missing his loved ones, or from having trouble juggling his work. Thankfully, Terence had his yearly holiday here in the Philippines, with that we felt so exhilarated because he would be bringing a lot of mementos, especially chocolates.😅

CROSS COUNTRY

Furthermore, Terence opted to cross-country from Japan to New Zealand in pursuit of a much greener prospect. Later, he filed for residency and got his approval after a few seasons. Afterwards, Terence took the chance to have his family together with him. So he urged my sister and their kids to go with him and process the papers for their application for residency too. Thank God, last May 2023, they received the approval of their residency, and just this past August 10 of this year as well, the family took a flight to New Zealand.

REALIZATION

Life undoubtedly becomes lovely when we want it to be. Nevertheless, the road to victory is always narrow and spiky. Meaning it is NOT EASY. We may say that others are lucky and rich, but the truth is that some are not born to have "acquired rich" but rather they are "achieved rich." The top secret? Perseverance, resolve, the willpower to strive hard for one's future, and lastly, but not in degree, with the help of God Almighty. Certainly, life has the possibility of becoming a story of victory!
