Sunshine and smiles, Hivers! It’s been a while since I posted a new blog post. In this blog, I’m excited to share to you all how we mixed a drink for our bartending class project. Let’s get started!

During our second year of college, we had a bartending class as part of our course. Our professor assigned us a project that involved making a video on how to mix drinks and perform flairtending. She told us that we can choose any liquor to mix for the project.

Since the cost of liquor and other ingredients are quite expensive, we decided to make this project as a group of friends to make the expenses more cheaper and to make the ingredients will not go to waste, as we only need small amounts for our demonstration individually.

First, we headed to the mall to buy the needed ingredients for our bartending. We choose to make a Cuba Libre and a Screwdriver because these cocktails has only three ingredients each, making them more affordable than other liquors. While some of us waited at our friend’s house, others went to the grocery store to buy the ingredients for the cocktails we would be mixing.

As you can see in the picture, me and ruby taking pictures while we're getting ready for filming our demonstrations. Some of us practiced flairtending since it had been a while since we last performed, while others documented our setup.

As you can see in the picture, this is what our mixed drinks should look like. The brown one is a Cuba Libre, while the orange one is a Screwdriver. These cocktails are quite simple to prepare and very budget-friendly if you want to make them at home. The ingredients for a Cuba Libre are 12cl of cola, 5cl of light rum, and 1cl of lime juice, garnished with a lime wheel. For the Screwdriver, you will need 5cl of vodka and 10cl of orange juice, garnished with an orange slice. Some of our friends began recording their videos while others were watching and practicing flairtending.

At this time, I’m the one demonstrating now how to prepare these drinks. First, I introduce myself in the video and explain which cocktails I’ll be mixing and their ingredients. Next is the demonstration, followed by the flairtending.

As you can see in the GIF, here I am performing the flairtending. I am just doing the basic techniques that my professor taught us. Flairtending is enjoyable, not until it causes many bruises on your hands and even on your face if a bottle happens to fall on your face. I practiced this basic flairtending for about a week.

This is me after I complete my demonstration. I felt so relieved that it was finally done. I went through many retakes and edits before I got the perfect video. As you can see in the picture, I look quite stressed but also happy!

Meanwhile, Des, Joshua, Khim, and Ruby started dancing while we're filming the bartending demonstration of my one friend because they were excited about the music my friend was playing. The song is titled "I Love Cebu," and it’s a popular song that most Cebuanos dance to when it plays. This song is typically played after participants dance at events or during any occasion in Cebu, and every Cebuano knows this song well.

Look at this Smiski that Apreal brought here in our bartending setup. This Smiski is so cute!

After finishing our demonstration in bartending, we cleaned up the area we used and collected the leftover ingredients. The used ingredients were given to one of my friend's uncle since he wanted to taste those mix cocktails that we mix during the demonstration. Some of us also decided to take the leftover ingredients to the seaside since we planned to hang out there to enjoy the fresh air and relax after feeling stressed from schoolwork, and we want to drink the leftover cocktails to avoid waste. My friends and I choose to go for a swim because we think we deserved take a swim on the sea after finishing our project. I also wanted to swim because I didn’t want to drink alcohol as of now.

As you can see in the picture, this was the view during our stay in seaside. It's like a Siargao Vibes because of the sunset and the coconut trees. The orange and yellow hues blended beautifully in the sky, making a stunning sky. It was truly a beautiful scene to watch.

1000025333.png

We also captured a plane flying, which looked gorgeous against the pinkish and orange tones of the sky reflecting on the sea. I just sat on the sand, watching the sky and feeling the peaceful atmosphere. Some of my friends were busy taking pictures because the view was simply amazing.

Here’s our photo from when it got dark. We decided to stay a bit longer because we were enjoying our time there. As you can see in the picture, my friends and I took some photos even though it was quite dark. Thankfully, my friend's phone has a feature that can take pictures in dark. We stay at the beach until 7 PM before deciding to have dinner beside the seaside. My friend cooked pancit canton and sardines with eggs since we were all very hungry and some of us had a craving for sardines with egg. After dinner, we chill for a little while longer before packing up and heading home.

And that’s the end of my blog, Hivers! This kind of teamwork is something we often to do with my friends because we want to graduate together. My friends mean a lot to me, because they are not selfish like some other group of friends that they don’t want to help others out of fear that someone might outshine them.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog! I hope everyone has a friend who is willing to help without any conditions. See you in my next blog, Hivers! Ciao!

It's awesome to see girls who do bartending ✨

Really? Our whole batch in bartending are girls haha

Flairtending looks so fun, tho i know for sure it's quite challenging too~

You're right! At first it was challenging but you're getting used to it. It is also challenging in memorizing all the ingredients of mix cocktails

Yes you're right! Missing those days we usually speak with ourselves to memorize all the ingredients haha

This course is my second decision because It kinda cool hehe

This course is has a lot of expenses haha but yeh it's cool

you captured the sunset perfectly ☺️

Thank you 😊

I hope I can have a taste of your drink

You can make this at home. Try it

It's awesome that you could get together with friends to save some money on this project AND have some fun in the process! I was a bartender for many years but never got into flair bartending, I probably lack the agility as well as the patience for it 😂

Your drink presentation and flair moves are lovely, way to go! 💚

This was our tactics that we usually do if theirs money involved. It also help us to save more money. You can try flairtending, just do tha basic and you're good to go! May I ask what's your favorite drink to build?
