The regional governor acknowledged the attack but, as is often the case, tried to downplay its consequences. According to him, all drones were shot down, and only debris fell to the ground. However, local residents paint a very different picture. Witnesses claim that explosions hit an ammunition depot, causing a massive detonation that engulfed the town in fire and smoke.

Social media has been flooded with videos taken by witnesses at the scene. Some residents admit that the blasts were so loud that they started bleeding from their ears, while others say that parts of Toropets were nearly invisible due to the intense fire and smoke. Panic has spread throughout the town—people are making plans to escape, considering using a relative’s car, but are doubtful about the feasibility of their escape. Some even confess that they feel satisfaction from what is happening.

The moment of arrival.
This attack highlights the increasing vulnerability of Russian military targets within their own territory. While the Russian authorities attempt to conceal or downplay the impact of such attacks, the reality is becoming harder to ignore. The ammunition that was intended to be used against other countries is now exploding on Russian soil, causing panic among civilians and significant losses for the military.
