Hoy he terminado el curso básico de animación y edición de videos, me siento muy complacido con los resultados obtenidos, pensé que me costaría mucho mas After Effects pero lo poco que he visto hasta ahora he podido comprenderlo y ponerlo en práctica. Lo que resta es pulir las técnicas y afianzar los conocimientos, eso solo se consigue practicando, y debo hacerlo porque el 28 de octubre comienzo la fase intermedia, por esa razón hoy les comparto lo que estuve haciendo.
Final project: Creating a promotional animation with After Effects
I just finished the basic animation and video editing course, and I'm really happy with the results! I thought After Effects would be a lot harder, but I've been able to understand and apply what I've learned so far. Now, it's all about refining my techniques and solidifying my knowledge, which only comes with practice. I have to do this because the intermediate phase starts on October 28th, so that's why I'm sharing what I've been working on today.
Como proyecto final, el instructor nos asignó animar nuestra marca personal, un flyer publicitario o algo que sirviera de promo para la siguiente fase del curso, yo me decidí por hacer una animacion de promoción. Hace dos semanas publiqué mis avances en el aprendizaje de Premiere, esa publicación la acompañe de una imagen que busca evocar el despegue de los editores que hasta ahora utilizaba, (en el planeta se ve el logo de Filmora) al nuevo mundo de Premiere.
For the final project, my instructor assigned us to animate our personal brand, a flyer, or something that could serve as a promo for the next phase of the course. I decided to make a promotional animation. Two weeks ago, I shared my progress in learning Premiere, and I accompanied that post with an image that aimed to evoke the departure of the editors I was using up until now (on the planet, you can see the Filmora logo) to the new world of Premiere.
Se me ocurrio que podia utilizar la misma imagen para animarla, pero ahora en el formato 1080x1920 o 9:16, que sirviera para reels, historias, tiktok o estados de Whatsapp. El desafío con esto era convertir la imagen a vector, cada una de sus partes, cada estrella, cada planeta, cada bruma, el cohete, el hombre, el humo, todo absolutamente todo, porque para animar cada cosa es necesario que este de forma separada para After Effects.
I thought I could use the same image to animate it, but this time in a 1080x1920 or 9:16 format, suitable for reels, stories, TikTok, or WhatsApp statuses. The challenge with this was converting the image to vector, every single part of it: each star, each planet, each haze, the rocket, the man, the smoke, absolutely everything, because to animate each thing, it needs to be separated for After Effects.
Una vez todo separado por capas, lo primero que hice fue darle un efecto de camara, algo que tambien les compartí hace tiempo en otra publicación. Este efecto busca representar el viaje en el espacio y mientras se da este movimiento de cámara, hice que los planetas giraran, pasando la cámara por los planetas con los logos de Premiere y After.
Once everything was separated into layers, the first thing I did was give it a camera effect, something I also shared with you a while ago in another post. This effect aims to represent the journey through space, and while this camera movement is happening, I made the planets rotate, passing the camera over the planets with the Premiere and After Effects logos.

Todos los demás elementos están estáticos, así que procedi a realizar una pre-composición donde pudiera animar individualmente cada estrella, para que tuvieran el efecto de resplandor individualmente cada una en su propio tiempo. Luego hice otra precompo para la bruma, para que tuvieran un movimiento sutil de forma individual cada una en una dirección diferente.
All the other elements were static, so I proceeded to create a pre-composition where I could animate each star individually, so they would have a glow effect individually, each at its own time. Then I made another pre-comp for the haze, so they would have a subtle movement individually, each in a different direction.

Lo siguiente fue darle movimiento al hombre que despega sobre el cohete. Lo primero fue que aumentara de tamaño, de menos a mas mientras se aleja del planeta de despegue y se acerca al nuevo nuevo planeta, luego el humo que saliera del cohete y quedará la estela. Por ultimo un ligero movimiento del brazo como los que montan toros en el rodeo, y una inclinación de la cabeza para mirar su nuevo objetivo.
Next, I gave movement to the man taking off on the rocket. First, I made him increase in size, from smaller to larger as he moves away from the departure planet and gets closer to the new planet, then the smoke coming out of the rocket and leaving a trail. Finally, a slight movement of his arm like those who ride bulls in a rodeo, and a tilt of his head to look at his new objective.
Este es el resultado, al final incluí la información del nuevo curso luego de una transición y un fondo animado con los logos de los programas, junto al sitio web donde se pueden inscribir, pero tengan en cuenta que este será el curso intermedio así que deben tener conocimiento base sobre el uso de los programas. Para las plataformas le coloque un remix de la canción de Bruno Mars: Talking to the Moon acompañada de efectos del sonido, lastima que aca solo puedo ponerles el gif.
This is the result. In the end, I included the information about the new course after a transition and an animated background with the logos of the programs, along with the website where you can sign up, but keep in mind that this will be the intermediate course, so you need to have a basic knowledge of how to use the programs. For the platforms, I added a remix of Bruno Mars' song "Talking to the Moon" accompanied by sound effects. Unfortunately, I can only show you a GIF here.
