Soulstice | The Beginning [No Commentary Gameplay]

Welcome back to the new gameplay on the blog. Today, we start the series on Soulstice. It is a dark fantasy game with lot of references to anime and other pop culture IPs. In this game, we take control of Briar, a Chimera that works alongside her sister Lute as a soul that is bound to her.

We are sent to the city of Ilden to investigate a Tear in the Veil. As we'll learn, things in this world work thanks to the existence of Chaos. The Arbiters molded the world and souls of humans, but then the war against the Chaos ensued.

They created warriors to keep humanity protected. Thus, Chimeras were born. We are part of an Order and need to investigate what happened in this city.

As we arrive things seem dire. Lots of corpses, fires and monsters. On this first entry, our job is to find a Monitor that will inform us about the overall situation of the city.

The game also takes our hand to explain the basic mechanics of the game. This is a Hack and Slash title mixed with elements of Dark Fantasy. In that regard the can keep in mind puzzles and other things go to a second plane and the combat is the main part of the experience.

There are astonishing views and some dialogue to follow through. Besides, as we progress, we'll learn more about the world and the protagonists

The combat in the game is interesting in the sense that, Lute, the ghost that is with us at all times works as a support character. We are the sword and she's the shield. As we fight, she will give us prompts to hold enemies in place and even counter their attacks. By performing these actions correctly, we gain resonance. This resonance helps us launch special attacks and finisher combos. Also it is a nice touch that the idea works as a sort of connection between souls.

Layton, the monitor from the order is our source of information. He can teleport around and has a crow named Corvo. He will tell us about dangers that are ahead and also give us new weapons. He also has a store. Through him, we can upgrade Lute's abilities and unlock new combos for our weapons.

The Tear has corrupted the citizens of Ilden. The monsters we encounter are the bodies that remained from the first onslaught of Chaos. As we progress, we'll find tougher enemies and other things that came out of that beacon in the clouds.
