If the internet is to be believed, I'm probably not the only hoarder of semi-useless cables and cords in the world... just hanging on to old cables in the event that they MIGHT be useful at some point in time.
However, we are doing a large decluttering of our house... too much stuff came here from the Netherlands, and now that we have lived a couple of years in this house, it is pretty clear what we can do without. And that means that quite a bit of our old electrical equipment is just useless... either defunct and not working, or just old and not worth keeping around anymore. Plus, if we haven't used the things in a decade or so, then it isn't really likely that we will be using it anytime soon!
So, first the cable box (well, more like three cable boxes)... and then the later when I get back from working in the end of the week, the larger electrical stuff. Lots of e-waste to send to the resource management centre (a.k.a. the tip).
I tried to have a sort of system for what I was going to keep or not... but I was trying to at least hold onto one of each type of old cable... but in the end, all the visual stuff is now handled by HDMI cables, so I dumped all the old VGA ones. Ethernets... well, I had heaps of those, so lots of those got dumped... kept some long ones, and some flatter ones. Lots of micro-USBs... kept a few, and lots of the USB-C shapes I hung onto.
... and of course, when you are decluttering the cables... you find the EXACT thing that you were looking for the other day! In my case, this USB extension... for the PC that I've moved into the living room. The USB hub stutters on the I/O keyboard/mouse... and if the receiver was plugged into the back of the box, it didn't have the range to be able to reach the couch! So, this is the thing that I was looking for! Woohoo... cable hoarding justified!
... and I found another cable that was perfect for charging an old JVC camcorder!
... and as we were starting to move equipment out of the study and into the living room... well, we are slowly reducing our need for the EU appliances. Either I get the Australian plugs, or the hardware dies and the new stuff is Australian plugged!
Every time an EU power board is not needed is a great day! Woohoo!

I recently moved. I have 3 archive boxes full of cables. Someone in the local neighbourhood put a call out for a RJ-10 to RJ-10 cable.. and lucky them, I had several - I gave it to them for free. :D
I hope that my boxes of cables are able to solve these problems for at least the next decade.
Yep, I have boxes like that at home myself. Then there is my office here at work. It's like a jungle with all the cables!
