π¦ The long-tailed tit or long-tailed bushtit (Aegithalos caudatus)
π Aegithalos (Greek): tit
π caudatus (lat.): tailed
It is always a pleasure to meet these cute charming birds in the forest.
As soon as you hear their quiet high voices, you can turn on their voices on the speaker, and they will immediately fly to see who is saying it. They are not afraid of people, and quite allow for close distances within reasonable limits of course.
They look especially funny in the winter in the cold. They are like a fluffy ball with a huge tail.
They feed on small insects, their larvae, spiders, so in winter it is especially difficult for them. They have to eat small vegetable food, tree seeds, various crumbs left over from other birds. They have short, weak beaks and cannot use them to crack the peel of nuts or seeds.
