πŸ¦‰ The little stint (Calidris minuta) (or Erolia minuta)

πŸ“š Calidris kalidris or skalidris (Greek) unknown bird mentioned by Aristotle
πŸ“š minuta Latin: minutus small, minutellus very small
πŸ“š Erolia erolie (French) "curlew sandpiper".

One autumn I went far, far out of town. I had to take a long bus ride and then a very long walk along the coastline. There are rocks as well as pebble shoals.

In these places I met a small flock of these small sandpipers. There were 4 or 5 birds. They wandered very quickly and without stopping among the stones.

They looked under every stone and found some insects there. The birds were afraid of me, but still over time they overcame fear and came closer to me. After about 20 minutes, they all flew further along the river together.
