This post goes for 'Show me your photo (of a bird)' contest, round #47. Week's topic was 'Birds in Black and White'.
My 1st thought was (again) about the pigeons, but on my way to the folder with certain streetlife photos I was keeping in mind...
I swerved to the side by accident. And came across this. Pretty big photosession I did this spring at a local park with ducks. And I thought: why not? Tried a few pics, and they came out suitable and satisfying. Hope you love watching this exactly in Black and White.
Sitting in the nest, guarding her hatch. And below is how this picture look like from a distance... in a color.
If I would post this color foto to the beloved B+W community, they probably would mute me for breaking the rules, but I didnt. No problem - they muted me anyway, just out of caprise. So, beware.
Of course, I still can share my #blackandwhite photos via any other of 999 Hive communities left there. And for example, you may enjoy them here.
Those birds are basically black and white (excluding the beak).
Thus, the goal of creating black and white images became even more challenging!
I hope these photos turned out not bad -- appealing / attracting due to the shining and tinkering water surface texture.
And also by the mysterious contrast of this bizarre white beak thingie.
As for this photo below...
I prefer it in color version.
Again, for the delicate pink color of her beak.

He wasn't muted "just out of caprise" as he claims. He was muted because of his sly and toxic behavior towards us.

I am more of a colour person when it comes to my own work. But I do like black and white photography when it's taken by others. I'm sure I'll explore the genre more myself as I progress along my photography journey. :)

so well said. I am 146% in this with you. with a note that personally I am already departed a while ago, and already somewhere (not necessarily in the starting point) of this journey. I mostly prefer color, but sometimes love to do b-w sets, divercity is a relief for eyes and mind.
