Hello Feathered Friends, my name is Fred, I am a House Finch. You can find me through out the United States, and recognize me from other finches by my color. As the male I have an orange red face, breast and rump, the female is brown and has a streaked white chest.
I meet the small bird criteria because I am only 5 inches or 13 cm long. I am quite the social bird and live and move with other small birds such as other finches (American Goldfinch, Purple Finch), and even Sparrows. I like to eat seeds, fruit and leaf buds and you will see me at seed feeders.
Some other facts about me and my mate; she likes to nest in hanging plants and while she is incubating the brood I feed her so she doesn't have to leave the nest. We have a very happy and cheerful warbling song, you definitely know we are around.
Thank you for stopping in and learning about me, I might be an itty bitty bird but my presence is one that you will not forget, I can cheer you up on dark and dreary day with my song. ~ Fred

I love the finches and to see the various species in other places.

Thank you for your entry!
thank you @nelinoeva
I have a pair that nest atop the porch light beside my front door each year. They are such pretty little birds!
I have quite a few that nest in my honeysuckle bushes, they are such dense bushes in my back yard that I never realize how many birds nest there until the fall when the leaves thin out.
Lovely captures !
