Happiness and my wife was in tears.
I stopped at a traffic light and something drew my eyes to the little farm behind our house. "Sally" I gasped and Marian was "where", "where"???
So, I took a left turn, slammed on the brakes and ran over the road to the fence with my camera. There she was and at first I was so happy to see her that I just kept clicking away.
A few of you know that Sally disappeared a few days ago with the three day old babies and that we were very worried.
I started to count the babies and I think that little guy at the left recognised me as he kept looking at me.
Only one gone as I counted 11 here. But the predator that took the one will be back and I hope that Harry will get the predator this time round.
A problem that I could see is that this space is wide open and there are some high trees at the one end. Ideal for eagles, falcons, hawks and even the dreaded Harrier Hawk to hide themselves and to wait to get the babies.
Harry the husband comes to eat here at our home and every time that he is away Sally and the babies are open to attack. So yes there is a lot to worry about but nature will take it's own course and there is nothing that we can do about it. Thankfully the farm laborers work in the land every day and they will scare the predators away, but at night it is a different story.
Another luck is that it's raining here almost daily and Sally keeps the babies under wraps somewhere where they are safe. We also have some crows patrolling overhead as they are nesting in a high palm tree fairly close by. I have been listening for the crow's alarm calls, but thankfully nothing yet. We only hope that it stays that way.
I cannot tell you how happy we are.

I am so glad that you found them and are relieved by their safety. It's so hard to trust that their mother knows best and that it will all work out as nature intends it to.

Thank you and we expect that more of the litte ones will go "missing" my friend, as mother nature has to feed all of her residents and the eagles also have babies.
But such are the realities of life.

Yeah, Marian just saw the Harrier Hawk through the kitchen window and she called me, but by the time that I got out there he was gone. I saw Harry flying around screaming and I hope that the hawk did not take any of the babies.
I spent a long time at the doctor, but thankfully thought to place my post first.
Beginnings of a TIA (Light stroke) again as blood pressure 196/121 and pulse 89.
But the doctor told me that I was clever to take a full blood pressure pill instead of the normal half ones.
So thankfully all okay now.

Now I'm double glad ... the Hawk has gone without a baby goose (hopefully) and you are fine again, and hopefully it will stay that way, my friend. I don#t want to worry about a friend who's thousands of kilometers away.

Sandra, our neighbor walked to the shop yesterday right past the farm and she came back to tell us that she saw Sally and her 5 babies. So like I said, there's now 7 gone my friend.
I don't take Marian there else I sit with a crying wife for the whole day.
It's cold here and she might order me to go with my sleeping bag to sleep near Sally and the babies at night.
Thank you for your care and you have become like a brother, to me at least.

Yes, it is just the course in nature and it also upset me terribly when I saw it the first time.
Yes indeed, our mom gave me all the food and you were so upset that you cried and stood peeing in your pants. The pee ran down your legs into your shoes and your roots drowned.
So that's the reason why you didn't grow 🤣🤣🤣

You can watch tv without a license, but you should try to not get caught, and here they catch everyone, believe me.

Oh wow, you still remember these old stories after so many years. I needed many expensive hours on the therapist's couch to forget it 🤣
