Oh yes, from the big to the small, everyone can fight to protect what is theirs.
In this case I will show you how doves handle their disputes. The attacker usually arrives unannounced with the surprise factor on his behalf.
Taking up an unobtrusive position the attacker sits waiting for the right opportunity to catch his enemy in a weak position.
Nature has also taught mankind the value of attacking an enemy in an unguarded moment.
So let the fight start.
Here below you can see how the dove launched his attack.
And here we go, the fight is on!
Now these guys have no teeth, so they cannot bite and neither can they arm wrestle or kick like the ostriches.
I think that they use their flying skills in an effort to dominate and the one that ends at the top is the winner.
At times one can see feathers fly, but not here and of course the lady that was the cause of the fight was nowhere to be seen.
Maybe she was at home still doing her make up and things:)
Finally the fight was back where it started and the attacker almost landed next to his adversary.
But he thought better of it and kept on going away.
Here was the winner on his way to go and fetch his girlfriend.
As they say, the day ended in moonlight and roses.
Very similar to how unexpected problems arrive in our lives isn't it?
We awake one nice morning to have a wonderful day and then all of a sudden some unexpected problem arrives to turn our day upside down.
Panic is normally our first instinct and some of us greet the new scare with oaths, others take a moment out to sit and think and yet others cry.
I for some reason have the habit of laughing as it has always helped me to cope. When I was a child at school and I was called up to the front of the class to get a hiding I would laugh, which was not good for me as it normally made the teacher angry. Now you don't want an angry teacher taking his anger out with a cane rod on your backside Lol.
But such is life and eventually they learned that laughing was my coping mechanism.

Did you know that the nail on ostrich foot can cleave one open like a butchers knife Hannes.
They lift their leg high and then kick out downwards.
So yes very wise not to have a fight with an ostrich 😉

Hahaha, I can just imagine you dancing with an ostrich my friend. You will have to wear heat trail boots and cricket pads to protect your shins. Oh you will also have a wear a bikers helmet in case he wants to peck you in the eye and I think that it will be a hilarious spectacle.

Like I said elsewhere, an ostrich can kick one wide open with that sharp nail on his toe.
It was a younger male that was trying to take over the chieftainship of the older guy. He hoped to score the lady if he won, but the old guy gave him a sound beating.
Oh yes, he was the king of the castle after winning the fight and pranced proudly around like a rooster that he saw fighting on a farm.

I was in the army in Oudtshoorn and there was a few ostrich farms, which are still there methinks.
Yes, I can remember that some workers were killed by an ostrich and if I remember correctly one's stomach was ripped out from a kick.
Now, now, now, what does the typical mean? I have never seen a male fight for territory as nowadays the women rule 🤣

Some people have had bad encounters with the big birds, perhaps a good idea is to leave the animals to live and stop molesting them into trying to ride them like a circus!
Typical still happens, woman are the water bearers, till the land and feed the family in majority of homes, still no rights to own, fall under regional/tribal leader graces.

Riding an ostrich is indeed a despicable dishonor to such a proud creature.
Across the African continent my friend and we once had a French male teacher that refused to draw the curtains in his class room at the end of the day. He stubbornly refused by saying it's a woman's job.

Education is many areas needed, riding elephants is also bad for the animal which we never knew previously, once it is proven it should be banned outright worldwide.

I tend to stand looking a bit grim in the face of a fight, especially if some teacher wanted to punish me and I have to say this happened once or twice.
Great shots of the doves fighting and here I thought all they did was coo, eat seed in the 2 feeder and walking around the lawn pecking away.
Once or twice only???
Oh yes, I could also dodge a hiding once or twice a week 🤣
Hahaha, the doves do that mostly, but as in human nature every now and then a fight is required.
