Taveta Golden Weaver at the Calgary Zoo

One of my favorite colorful birds to find at the zoo, it is kept indoors in a large area with other birds with plenty of trees, branches, and whatever else they may need. I find it's usually darker in this spot, so it's been a challenge anytime I go here to get some good pictures of the birds. Fortunately this one was in a fairly well-lit spot hanging around on the branches. They are native to Kenya and Tanzania in East Africa. They are known to be a loud and gregarious species. They might even abruptly leave the breeding colony for no apparent reason only to return weeks or months later.
