The european stonechat is one of the birds thats is more seldom here and you can only find it in spots with open grassland that is not so much cultivated. Therefore I can only find it on special spots in Austria like the meadows at lake Neusiedler to the border of hungary. The European stonechats breeds in heathland, coastal dunes and rough grassland with scattered small shrubs and bramble and since these spots are not so common here it is also difficult to find this bird. But I was lucky and I got some really nice closeup pictures of it perching on a stick of a bush. It was sitting there and I could take several pictures before it flew away.
I hope spring is not far away and I can soon take some great pictures of birds again this year, I can't wait. But now when I come back home from work it is already dark and I have to admit that I don't really like these days with dark
