eurasian nuthatch

Now in the beginning of the winter (end of autumn) it is a bit difficult to find some nice birds here in Austria because most of the birds already migrated and only the resident birds remain here. And during the cold time there is only a short timeframe where you can watch and find some nice birds like this nuthatch here. The nuthatches are a family of similar-looking birds with short tails and wings, compact bodies and longish pointed bills. The often jump up and down the trees on the barks of the trees without flying. like the tree creeper they have special formed toes that allow them to easily climb vertically on a tree. I love to watch this behavior since it looks a bit funny.

Since it was early in the morning I still had a bad light situation but I was happy that the ISO-Auto feature was enabled and bumped up the ISO to 8000 so the images where surprisingly still good. And also the ISO noise was surprisingly good here. The nuthatch was one of the few birds I saw these days. I think because of the bad weather most of the birds where gone or didn't show up at all.

Cute birds! Only once I saw one. Pity I didn't have my camera with me.
It was cool to watch him though jumping on the tree.
