Common greenshank at the river shore

In spring this year I had several opportunities to take some pictures of the common greenshank, that was visiting the danube river shores for some rest and food. The common greenshank is a little wader that is a migratory species, wintering in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Australasia, usually on fresh water like river shores and small lakes. In Austria I found some species at the Danube river and at Lake Neusiedler.

During spring migration, I like taking pictures of these birds because I don't have to drive so far with my car, since they can be found at the Danube River here near Linz. The best time to watch them is spring, during summer it is difficult to find them. Maybe they can be found in the very early morning when it is not so hot but during the day I didn't have the chance to see them recently.

I am already looking forward to next spring, so I can visit several birding places here for some bird photography during the weekends. Because now in Summer you usually have to get up so early, to be there on time for the sunrise and the colder morning period of the day. Because during noon and in the hotter part of the day a lot of birds are hiding and is nearly impossible to take some nice pictures also because of the harsher light during that time.

Always feel like in holidays at the beach with your captures ! 😁♥️

Haha, thank you. Good to give you that feeling.

These are lovely birds! I have never seen them here (Southern tip of Africa), but I have seen similar species. Awesome photography.

Thanks a lot, the light situation could be better, it was a little harsh but I really like watching these birds and I am already looking forward to meet them again in spring.

I can also just sit for hours and watch our bird friends. Stay safe and may your spring be full of these feathered friends.

Beautiful bird, nice photograpgy
