Well Indy screams for attention and as she never gets any, the screeching continues and then she gets attention that she doesn't want, need or deserve...but to her even that horrible attention is still attention, so she keeps screeching...Now that I'm here and she's hanging out on my chest for most of the day, there's no need to call for attention and when she is back in her prison, she still doesn't feel the need to screech for attention because I'm giving her enough.
So I know that she's going to be loud in my apt, but nowhere near as much or as often as she is now as she won't be imprisoned and ignored, she'll be hanging with me, allowed to fly around as much as she wants, except when I have to go to work and since, my hours have dropped dramatically to the point where I am now looking for another job, I'll have plenty of time at home with her..
Oh yes, she can sense your love for her and your attention and presence means a lot to her.
One of my friends had two birds that was all over him every day, picking at his ears and sleeping on his chest. Then he ended up in hospital for a long period and both birds died.
So one must take care that a bird doesn't become too dependent, as they have to be taught self reliance. Take care that she doesn't become too dependent on you.
!PIZZA
Well the longterm plan is to eventually get her socialised with other birds so she can go to live happily with them in a sanctuary.
That's where birds should be- with other birds, flying around and living as naturally as they can as domesticated, hand raised birds can be...
Oh yes, that's a good idea and hopefully she will go to a big place where there is enough space to fly around.
We stand for the freedom of all wild animals and birds, but many that are born in captivity will not make it back in the wild, so the best is to make them as comfortable as possible.
Yep. Agreed.
I also have an idea brewing in my mind too about just this topic of birds in captivity and bred for that sole purpose....
A thing that I totally disagree with.
Me too, there's already more than enough animal factories..
