The first weekend of 2025 is here and with it the first edition of Saturday Savers Club of 2025.

I am publishing this in our Silver Bloggers community as we do have an interest in crypto and this involved two cryptocurrencies!

This year I will be much more focused on earning crypto in a variety of ways especially to report for @mmonline.

One such way is through the interest we receive on Hive's stablecoin Hive Backed Dollar (HBD).

I did this with Saturday Savers Club in 2023 and it was a fluffing rip roaring success.

I shall be Using the Penny a Day Savings Challenge

How does it work?

Loads of people take part in the 1p Savings Challenge every year, and the idea's pretty fluffing easy.

You start by saving 1p on 1 January, then 2p on 2 January, then 3p on 3 January and so on – saving what you saved the day before, plus a penny more each day – right the way up to £3.65 saved on the last day of December.

So if you started on 1 January 2025, then by 31 December 2025 you'll have saved a grand total of £667.95.

I am using pounds as pence as I am British ... you can use whatever currency you wish...

So in this Saturday Savers Club on Hive, that will be HBD as I mentioned...

I want to have 667.95 HBD saved...

Goal 1 = 667.95 HBD

But ... there's more...

Of course there is more! If we remember we have a savings rate of 15% (currently) so we shall be receiving interest, the final total should be higher than 667 HBD if we don't touch the interest received...

Back to the beginning.... What is Saturday Savers Club

Saturday Savers Club is for anyone who wants to save in any currency for any purpose. The Club is a supportive group of people who meet up around the weekly post, usually on a Saturday but occasionally on a Sunday, to share tips and techniques and have fun in the process.

The jist of it is that you set two savings goals and then support members of the community.

It is easier to accomplish your goals with support and let me tell you that the members are fluffing supportive of each other!

There is a weekly savings chart with members goals on it, you comment weekly with your progress and/or make a post and support other members.

Things are a wee bit different this year... In a fluffing good way!

There is a two tiered competition with the chance to win a whopping 500 HP!

To be eligible for the draw, you must:

• leave a comment on the post with your primary and secondary (if you have one) savings goals for the year.
• in the same comment, post a snapshot from hivestats.io of your HIVE and HP and total HP author and curation rewards by the deadline: 18:00 UTC on 31 January 2025 (Here's an example).
• actively participate in the Club by commenting at least 40 weeks of the Savings year (80% participation).
• post a comment with a snapshot of your results on the week 50 Saturday Savers Club post by 18:00 UTC on Friday 19 December 2025. (There will be a reminder nearer the time).

My progress on the first goal ...

So I have 24.14 HBD, I know from past experience it is easier to stay ahead of the game and bank as much as you can as the higher daily amounts in Q4 can come and bite you in the arse!

What about the second goal?

Well regular and often is the way to go. This year my motto is Just Do It ... and I did just do it!

This morning at 3am the first automatic transaction in my BTC savings plan was taken...

So I am making a daily 3 USD purchase of Bitcoin.

Here we can see that I have a total of 0.00003036 BTC

Of course the daily 3 dollar purchase will not always be 0.00003036 BTC but for the purpose of the Saturday Savers Club, my second goal for 2025 will be 0.00003036 x 361 (we will forget the first four days of 2025 as the first transaction was taken on the fifth of Jan!.

Goal 2 = 0.01095996 BTC

There we have it, it should be an interesting year!
