"Memoir Monday": Dos de mis platos favoritos | Two of my favorite dishes

in Silver Bloggersyesterday

Happy day to all, I am pleased to be once again sharing with you in this warm community, on the occasion of @ericvancewalton's initiative: Memoir Monday #42 (12/23-12/29) - What are your favorite dishes, both to cook and to eat?.

Eating is one of my greatest weaknesses, I really enjoy tasting a wide range of flavors, coming from different types of food. In my country, Venezuela, the food is very rich and varied, maybe that's why it's so difficult for me to moderate the portions I eat.

One of my favorite dishes is Chinese rice, which apparently is not really eaten that way in China, but here it has that name. It is fried rice with different vegetables and can also have meat, chicken, shrimp and/or ham.

A few days ago I took a short trip with my husband and took the opportunity to order Chinese rice, accompanied with lumpias and sweet and sour chicken; for me it is the best combination and I enjoy it very much.

My children don't eat that kind of food, that's why I order it almost every time I eat out.

It is also a dish that I love to prepare and before I had my children, I used to make it at home frequently. Now I almost never make it, let's say that in the last 10 years I have prepared it only once and it was because I was alone at home, my husband had traveled and my children were at their grandmother's house.

I like the rice to have meat and/or chicken in it, shrimp are not my favorite, I can eat them without a problem, but if I have a choice, I prefer them out.

Also, for me it is important to accompany the fried rice at least with lumpias, which I also love. I like sweet and sour chicken, but if it's not on the plate, I don't mind.

Now I will tell you about a dish that I love to eat and at the same time, is the one I like to prepare the least.

It is the Christmas dish, whose main element is the hallaca, which is made with a corn flour dough in a thin layer, stuffed with a chicken and pork stew, raisins, olives and whatever else people want to put in it, but for me, that is more than enough. It is wrapped in banana leaves and boiled in water until the dough is well cooked, then the hallaca is ready.

In addition, the hallaca is accompanied at least with ham bread and chicken salad, but if the budget allows it, it is also served with baked pork leg.

I was also recently able to enjoy my first complete Christmas dish this year, which is the one you can see in the photo above, thanks to a lunch that we organized among all my colleagues at work, we had a great time that day.

The reason why I don't like to prepare it is because it takes too much work. Normally, to eat at home I buy the hallacas and the ham bread, that's enough for me.

And that's all for today friends, I really enjoyed writing for this initiative, I am grateful for the opportunity.

To you, thank you for joining me in this reading.

Thank you very much
