Do you have any family holiday traditions at this time of year that you still celebrate, or any traditions that you remember with nostalgia?
Tell us about your family holiday traditions.
Any family tradition becomes a nostalgic while going to the past. Childhood is a carefree life, where it is meant for happiness, family reunion, gifts, treats, hugs and kisses and above all pampering.
If I had to remember something of the past that still haunts me, its all about the Eid festival, which was celebrated among friends because we were miles away from relatives.
So mostly our gatherings were non muslims, our immediate neighbourhood brothers and sisters.
It has become a compulsory tradition to share some savouries to our neighbours. Wearing a new dress and to make a public appearance becomes another curiosity. Some close friends are invited for lunch. All these happens after the congregational prayer.
Another best part was watching movie at home or in theaters with family. With some peanut candy in hand, we enjoyed watching movies, especially comedy or story movies, giggling silently or crying and wiping tears rather hurriedly to escape others eyes. Looking back, makes me imagine how funny we behaved in those times.
I lived in a place, where, irrespective of caste and creed, we celebrated almost all the festivals like a family. The sweet essence of which brings in tears at times.
Christmas was also a part of this beautiful moments. With Christmas trees and stars hanging in few surroundings around, its like a joyous moment welcoming Santa Claus. I remember eating the cake and delicacies received from my friend.
The best moment ever of any tradition is having lunch together and spending some memorable time with dear ones and best friends. This is a short family tradition, when it comes to festive season.
