A two night sunset.

in Silver Bloggers2 years ago

Not the normal ocean sunsets, or mountain sunsets that I post from time to time, but two nights right here at our home.
166.jpg

On the first night, the sunset clouds were pushing in slowly from the south side.

The thing that I like about the clouds at sunset is that they can continually change their shapes and colors. Depending on the speed of the winds of course. We had a strong wind on the first night and it chased the clouds along fairly fast. It feels very much like a movie in full color and a pity that the big birds do not fly around at this hour, as they would add much character to the photos. So, the palm tree will have to do.
Come and watch the movie with me.

Yep, there was a big column of cloud on its way.
182.JPG

But the wind tipped the leading part of the column down.
180.JPG

This was the body of the cloud column.
177.JPG

And finally a dove came flying over.
186.JPG

And here is the second night

A slow, mild and cool wind was blowing from the ocean side.
097.JPG

All kinds of forms and the sun lit up the pale side above the tree line.
101.JPG

Ever so slowly that bottom part of the clouds was starting to change.
098.JPG

Until it leaned over more towards the left hand side.
112.JPG

This was the end result and it was mindblowing to watch it.
115.JPG

I have to admit that I liked the second night more, but the palm tree on the first night tried its best to impress me. It felt like I was standing on the shore of a tropical island. The colors on the first night were also beautiful, but still I liked the second night more. Maybe it was the slow cool wind that impressed me after a hot day. It is so relaxing to watch the clouds unfold in the skies and I let my mind drift along on the clouds. It makes me to feel a part of another world, a great universe that enfolds all the nations on this earth.
A part of the whole, as it were, and we all have only this one life to enjoy. A freedom to fly and then we die.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Looking at the great photos of clouds feels like the heaven hovered your place. That one dove must be very brave to conquer the strong wind the area. I love these photographs 😍 Have a nice day and enjoy your time there.

Thank you and I think heaven would be much more beautiful if it hovers so low down.
The doves have nests in the trees and that one waited for a break in the flow before it quickly flew to its nest. Glad that you liked the photos and may you also have a nice day 😊

We do live in an amazing world, don't we? Free movies just by sitting outside and watching the wonders of nature! I thought you were visiting Durban with that palm tree! It looks like a fire is raging behind some of the clouds, simply stunning photos Zac! You must have an enormous library on your PC, should public an ebook, if you haven't done so already!
Have a wonderful weekend. blessings to you & Marian!

Thank you and yes. I agree with you Lady Lizzie and nature is always so worthwhile just to sit and watch.
The palm tree definitely had an ocean feel and the sea is not far behind it.
No fire, but it does look like one, as the sinking sun lightened up the lower clouds.
A few people have advised that I should start doing ebooks, but I am still too young 😊 !LOLZ
I might entertain that hobby one day when I cannot walk anymore.
Thank you and we hope that you guys will also have a blessed weekend!

Tree add to the drama with fiery sky, strong winds blowing though much more evident in second round of photos.

Evening winds clear the heat out, always a wonderful time of day to watch the sun go down.

Exactly right, as that fiery clouds behind the tree is thankfully the last heat of the day.
Our house has no airbricks and it is like an oven in the day, When we are at home, like now, we open all the doors and the windows. At night it was a different story as we had to close everything to keep the mossies out. Not anymore as now we allow the cool of the strong evening wind to flow through the house. I got some sheets of mosquito netting and placed them on the window frames and now we can sleep with open windows. Selah

Modern homes without air-bricks never seen that before, I know many don't bother with gutters of late. Our home being East/West the summer sun scorches in during summer afternoon right up to sunset. Big tree helps shade the lounge, bedrooms take a couple of hours to cool down.

Mozzie netting works like a charm in clean air conditions, Durban is filthy, air, sea, water, rivers, over populated, too many business parks built close to homes. South Coast was meant to be small coastal villages, now nothing works, hundreds of people are selling up to get out of Africa, or getting their children out, this includes all colours within society here at the moment.

Oh yeah, they call it quick build, as it is a skill to insert air-bricks, so we live in an oven. Our house also faces east/west and we have a very high wall at the eastern side. It is the midday sun that get's us until almost sunset. Strikes us in the kitchen badly.

Nothing that one can do about filthy air and rotten smells. Maybe it is also time for you guys to get out there. People of my age face much difficulty to emigrate and so I just have to tough it out and stay here.
But we do the best that we can.

Big fan with damp cloth draped over might help cool the kitchen during hot days, or fan with dish over water directly in front to assist with cooling.

Both on 'pension' we can possibly move to another town, still trying to get the sons on the move. Upper South Coast is filthy I cannot express how bad since the floods, very surprised no excessive illnesses have not broken out already.

Tried all of that and now looking for a small battery operated fan.

What about further inland towards the Berg? Or maybe even St Lucia? I loved it up there during my contracting days. Upper South coast, towards Port Edward, or the other way?

!PIZZA

Current problem is every second house here is up for sale, not many moving we may have to sit on our hands a little while longer. If I move it will be down into Brakrivier area possibly.

Never found battery powered fans have done the job, large short base fans have been what I have settled on placing onto stand.

I've always liked sunsets, perhaps because I've not been a morning person. Those two evenings certainly were a contrast. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Ah, but early mornings are also beautiful when one waits for the sun to arrive in the mountain peaks.
So many contrasts here that it makes one's head spin :)
Thanks for the comment and my pleasure to share.
