Silver Surprise Winners

To say I have been overwhelmed by the heartfelt response from our beloved Silver Bloggers’ to my prompt is an understatement. We had three responses from the team and twelve from our members.

@fionasfavourites and I have been ‘carried on the wings of angels’ by our Silver Bloggers, and other Hivers during the most difficult period in our lives.
Three ‘angels,’ @coquicoin, @tengolotodo, and @mondoshawan, kept the wheels rolling and introduced new endeavours to our community.

@riverflows’ casual, tongue-in-the-cheek suggestion, just over three years ago, that I start a community for ‘more mature bloggers’ turned into a reality and now is a space where we all feel safe blogging about content that is of interest not only for a premillennial but also for the younger generation.

Life can become even more thrilling as one matures and realizes we can fulfill those dreams that nine-to-five jobs often crush!

In celebration of our third birthday, and as a token of thanks, I sprung a question just over two weeks ago, without consulting my team:
"Please tell us in a blog how you heard about the Silver Bloggers, why you choose our community for some of your blogs, and what keeps you coming back for more."

I must thank all of you for your wonderful responses and kind words.

Reading about how you were introduced to Hive and found your way to the Silver Bloggers Community shows how interconnected we all are, despite coming from all walks of life and many corners of the globe.

There were many common threads in your responses about what this community means for you; the sense of belonging, encouragement during difficult times, fun and laughter, celebrations, sharing knowledge on a broad spectrum of topics - crypto, hobbies, homesteading, and many others!
Learning about different cultures, and hearing about new ventures undertaken post-retirement, has been an amazing journey for many. Many close friendships have been formed here.

I am immensely thankful for your encouragement following my big loss. I have had the freedom to pour my heart out without being judged; it's been good therapy I must add!

Superb Silver Bloggers Team Response

I’m going to quote a big part of @tengolotodo’s response where he says: I blame it on coquicoin. He pretty much sums up what it means to be a Silver Blogger:

• The members ... fluff yes, members from all over the world from 40s in age and up.
• We are pretty relaxed about rules, be yourself within reason and post what you want within reason...
I mean you can't really say within reason is a rule can you ... A bit like saying common sense is a rule.......
• You are free to be a curmudgeon and nobody minds
• We care about our members!

@coquicoin spoke of Silver Bloggers – My Home in Hive,

...offline life lately has had us more busy than in previous years. But the fact that we have not made a fuss on the anniversary day does not mean that we do not celebrate and are grateful for the existence of this space, in which those who have already reached "a few" years of experience in what they call Life can come to tell about their experiences, their joys, and sorrows and share memories among other things.
Silver Bloggers is like my home in the blockchain, where I always feel comfortable.
We have had ups and downs in the time we share in the community, due to some events in the lives of each of us, some serious and also devastating. But we are still here and hope there will be Silver Bloggers for a long time.

@mondoshawan continued the ‘blame game’ when he spoke about Three Years of Silvery Bliss, as I met him over a sandwich on the old blockchain, before the birth of Hive, and this is what the Dude says:

Back office is my thing... to make stuff happen, as simple and fast as possible. ...
...i come back to the SilverBloggers because here i met the wise "old" souls. The one's not really in it for the money, but the feeling for sane exchange.
"Similar things come together"
and this community is proof of that fact. You all make me feel welcomed, accepted. That makes me happy and gives me even more "power", to share the best i can give, to all of us.
