May all your Christmas Wishes come True

I'm the luckiest lady to have two caring souls here for the holidays - my youngest son and his lovely girlfriend. They've spoilt me from the day they arrived, taking care of meals, and helping with the BnB chores while my staff are away for Christmas and New Year.
Lily's Cottage has been a safe haven for holiday makers for almost ten years, the studio unit had a long booking by a business guest, and then stood empty.
During the holidays the cottage is popular and kept full with holiday makers. I had many last minute enquiries for the studio unit but do not accept two night bookings during peak season; it's not worth all the fuss with stripping/changeovers.

Surprises however happen all the time when running a BnB; good and bad ones!

Yes, it's not only guests who are scammed, hosts often fall prey to fraudsters.
A booking was canceled three nights ago. Seems the booker used a 'hot credit card' which was picked up by a large international online booking portal when it was time to process the card.
It actually worked in my favour and that of our current super nice guests who wanted to extend their stay.
I resigned myself to the studio being empty till January. December's been busy enough.

Then a frantic phone call came from long-standing guests asking for a week's booking in the studio unit. They were offered free accommodation by someone they know, but it turned into what they call a Horrorday. I may tell you their story which sounds like the perfect script for a sitcom, except it wasn't funny when it happened!

To my friends who celebrate Christmas, I hope you've been able to spend the day with your nearest and dearest.
Some of us have lost loved ones, had to face major life changes, but we're learning that life can still bring much joy!
My advice is - cherish each moment, love one another, and do not let the small things tear you apart. Life is way too precious and too short to waste time on trivialities.
