HODL'ing onto my Dreams

Should I, or shouldn't I?

That is the big question!

A whirlwind visit from my littlest fledgling got me thinking again - should I get rid of my car, and be rid of maintenance costs, lost keys, an empty fuel tank, and having to watch out for other drivers, especially the ones who try to beat the red lights?
I swear there are way too many drivers with 'bought' licenses in SA right now!

Our younger son drove down from Johannesburg for business, and to visit mother hen.

The trip went well until his key card malfunctioned when visiting a client yesterday, some forty minutes from home. The car door would not open, and his cell phone was inside! Much to his embarrassment, he had to call me from his client's phone.

I reminded him about the key-thingy inside that card to open the door.

Mom, I'm not blaming you, but remember you and Dad lost my original key when I went overseas, and you bought a generic key? There is no emergency key inside this card!

I had forgotten, and of course, started searching again, maybe it was still lying somewhere?
We always were the ones reminding the 'kids' to be responsible and put important stuff in the right place, yet we slipped up with this key card; there was no spare!

My son sorted everything in the end, but it nudged me about an issue I've been mulling over since hubby left last year.

Should I sell my little car? Even though it's getting long in the tooth, it is super-reliable, but it mostly sits in the garage.

I do 90% of my grocery shopping online.

If I used Uber, I wouldn't have to worry about a flat tyre, or battery, needing eyes in the back and sides of my head to think for other drivers, worrying about being highjacked; yes I'm saying it again, but...

Uber makes more sense and would be way more cost-effective in the long run,

BUT, I will have lost my independence!

I cannot get an Uber if I need to go to multiple places, which I tend to do at times, or just pop in to visit a friend close by, or a little further, as I did last week when a friend and I discovered an Aladdin's cave at The Vintage Barn.

So for now, the car will stay. She worked hard carrying DIY material and took us on many wonderful road trips. If that car could talk, you'd have enough material to write a book!

Above all, she's a tangible reminder of hubby and the hundreds of selfless trips he also took to help friends and neighbours, and even strangers!

I know it doesn't make sense financially, but one thing that does make sense here on the blockchain, is HODL'ing, and one way to do that, is to power up.

I'm keeping some HBD in my savings, for a rainy day as the estate costs have been coming and going, but a couple of bigger ones waiting in the wings!

My maths was bad, multi-tasking at 70-plus gets too much at times, so I did two power-ups to reach my goal, and now sit on 22,009 HP.

Growing slowly, but surely.

Thank you to everyone who supports me, and for the wonderful friendships, you have no idea just what a lifesaver Hive has been!

Why do we power up?

@hivebuzz has been giving out Power-Bees for many moons, little ones, and big ones. The more you power up, the bigger your Power-Bee!
I quote from their POST:

The first reason is to have fun and get a badge!
And here are some other great reasons to power up your HIVE:
Strengthen your influence on the blockchain with stronger votes on content, proposals and witnesses.
Earn more curation rewards. The more Hive Power you have, the more you can potentially earn back
Earn "interest" by holding Hive Power. You will also earn HIVE passively at about 3% per year of what you currently have powered up so the more HIVE you have, the more you can earn from just holding!
Finally, several amazing members are offering prizes that include delegations, Hive giveaways, and other cool stuff to the Hive PUD participants.
Be ready and Power Up!
