Blog of the Month: New Theme for 10 March 2022

What an amazing response we had to our second blog of the month for 2022. If you missed the winning post, read it here. Don't just leave it at that, though, go and read some of the other posts. The Silver Bloggers' community continues to grow. As we prepare this post, we are approaching the 1,000 mark with 981 subscribers, and of these, 174 are active - about 30 up on last month.

As a reminder -

This month's topic: Why I'm a Silver Blogger

As our community grows, we thought - and thanks to Silver Cat - that it might be an idea to reflect on this community and why we want to be part of it.

A little background

The Silver Bloggers' community account will be a year old on 17 April 2022. Silver-Blond Lizzie started it on the back of a suggestion from Flowing Silver. That's her story to tell, but when she dragooned me (Silver Flower) in to help, I hadn't found any community on Hive in which I felt comfortable. That's a story I do plan to tell... The point is, that when I became a Silver Blogger, one of the criteria was that I had to be not just over 40, but if not retired, considering it. Really? Another part of that story...

In the last ten or so months, there is a dedicated band of bloggers who regularly blog in our community. They also commune converse over coffee (or potentially other interesting substances) in our coffee corner on Discord...

So, the March #bom theme is simple:

I am a silver blogger: why?

To enter

How to enter your post for the Blog of the Month (#BoM) -

1. Posts must be in English (or with a translation from your home language) and obviously centre on the month's theme or topic.
2. Prose must be a minimum of 350 words. If it’s a photo or graphic essay, the photos must be your original work and preferably with some sort of back-story to the images.
3. The blog must be posted in/from our community
4. The account must be a subscribed Silver Blogger
5. Use #BoM - blog of the month - as your first tag.
6. Share the link to your entry in the comments of this post and in our Discord channel which is open to subscribed members only.

Word to the wise:

If you don't follow the rules, your entry will not count.

Also -
Do follow the #BoM tag so that you can easily find, upvote and comment on other contributions.

Reminders:

The community description which you will find here, is a guide to the content that is welcome in the Silver Bloggers' Community.

We will encourage folk who post content that doesn't jive, to find an alternative and more comfortable space in which to play.

and

To keep things fair: the same person (account) may not win twice in succession.

In summary, last edition's winner may enter, but the contribution, like those of the judges' panel, will not be eligible for a prize.
