Memoirmonday 30/How do you plan to spend the next decade of your life?

in Silver Bloggers3 days ago

The topic of how to spend my next decade is something that had not occurred to me, only after reading the question that @ericvancewalton leaves us, I thought of this idea.

I am 68 years old, a decade means reaching 78, with health and luck it is perfectly possible. So I venture to write as if more than a possibility it was a sure prognosis. I would like that in these coming years I could maintain the peace and tranquility that I feel at this moment.

Let me explain better: two months ago I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism with a submerged nodule, which caused me anxiety with all its manifestations, this must be removed in the next few days. We are currently making arrangements to gather the money for the operation; the treatment that they have prescribed me gives me a peace of mind, let's say, imposed by the type of medical procedures: painkillers for anxiety, psychosis and others specific for the thyroid, this makes me sleep a lot and my nerves stay totally balanced.

It has been interesting to see how what used to distress me and cause me stress, now I practically see it as something of no great importance, and so I tell myself: “that is not important.” Being able to be still without wanting to do everything at once, or wanting to run away, has led me to enjoy the things I like more.

Being with my grandchildren, talking with my partner, tending to my plants, knitting, writing, this state of things is really pleasant and if I could stay like this for the rest of time, I would feel really lucky.

At this time, most people carry a good dose of visible stress, there is a bad mood, a certain aggressiveness in the way we treat others, people easily fall into displeasure over matters that they can handle in another way.

Already retired, far from the hustle and bustle of teaching work, being able to read a book not out of obligation but out of pleasure; watching a movie, meeting with people with the same needs, I perceive as something pleasant.

Learning is a verb that I like a lot and I see a lot of older people with underused smartphones because they are ignorant of everything they can do, so it occurs to me that doing a technology course for seniors is a viable idea and would bring advantages to everyone, to give just one example.

I see myself painting in a group with other ladies, teaching how to paint or knit, sharing with my children, grandchildren, relatives who are close to me and virtually with those who are far away. I see myself in Hive in this writing process that I like so much. Enjoying the little things, the simplest ones that comfort so much, sometimes just having my cat on my legs makes me happy. That's what I want. I don't think about big projects, whatever has to come will come, but my daily purpose is to be fine with what I have, which is a lot when you look at it with the eyes of gratitude.

Thank you for your kind reading.

Doing what you like, having peace of mind, being happy are your plans for the next ten years. And always surrounded by your family, excellent friend.🥰🤗😁

Doing what we like is an incredible exercise in freedom and is one of the advantages of this stage where we have that fondness for our loved ones.

Thank you, friend.

Doing what we want to when we want to is just heaven! Tech is great and yes too many people seem to be afraid to explore. We are never too old to stop learning.
Good luck with your operation @charjaim
