Greetings, friends of the Silver Blogger community, I wish you a lucky 2025. I take this opportunity to greet @ericvancewalton and participate in his Memoir Monday №44, where he brings us a series of questions to learn more about our life in high school.
Did you know your current love in high school?
Interestingly, we both graduated from the same institution, I was entering the first year when he was starting the fifth, maybe we crossed paths in a hallway, but we never saw each other. Sometimes we talk about that time and we realize that we had teachers in common and we remember situations we lived through at that time; but we met years later.
What kind of car did you drive?
None
What kind of work did you do?
Only when I graduated did I start working as a teacher at an academy.
Where did you live?
In Maracay. Venezuela.
Were you popular?
No. I was very shy.
Were you in the band or the choir?
My father forbade me to do anything other than strictly academic.
What did you do after your graduation ceremony?
It must not have been anything significant because I don't remember it.
Were you ever suspended?
No.
If you could go back, what experience would you relive?
The high school where I studied maintained good discipline, I didn't miss many classes, however, one time, I don't remember why, they suspended the activities and the classmates, with whom I always went, decided that we should walk home. It would be about two hours of walking through the center of the city. It was a fun trip, we were laughing, singing, without any pressure of any kind, or worrying about getting home late, because they had brought us back early in the afternoon. It was very nice but it was never repeated. We always took a bus.
Have you ever skipped school?
It would have been a bad idea, my parents were strict about it and they always told me not to do it.
Did you go to soccer games?
No.
What was your favorite subject?
Spanish and literature.
Do you still have your yearbook(s)?
At the institution where I studied, that didn't exist.
Did you follow the professional path you had planned?
No. I was a business graduate, I was supposed to pursue higher studies in accounting, administration or similar; but when I did the internship, in the fifth year, I discovered that that wasn't my thing, I was always very uncomfortable with being sent.
Finally, I studied to be a teacher of Spanish and Literature and it was the best.
Do you still have your high school ring?
No. I wore it for a long time, but it was stolen from my house, a long time later, along with other clothes, by one of the people who did housework and I didn't realize it until I missed it.
Who was your favorite teacher?
A teacher named Arjona who taught shorthand.
What was your hairstyle?
I had a half ponytail, this was a part of my hair tied back with a rubber band on top of my head and the rest of my hair was loose, I had my hair below my shoulders.
What were your favorite shoes?
School shoes called Pepito.
What was your favorite food?
My mom had very good seasoning, whatever she cooked she did very well, she used to make a tripe soup with chickpeas that was delicious.
Who was your favorite singer?
Elío Roca
What cologne did you use?
A perfume from Avon products called Charisma.
How old were you when you graduated?
Seventeen.
Did you have a nickname?
None
What high school did you attend?
Liceo Andrés Bello, which later became Manuel Atanasio Girardot
What year did you graduate?
1973
What has changed the most in the world since you graduated?
Everything has changed, the most relevant thing has to do with technology.
How have you changed since high school?
I am definitely different, my stage fright and difficulty in relating to other people has changed completely, it doesn't mean that I have become extroverted, but I don't give it much importance. My power of decision makes me freer from pressure or prejudice.
If you could travel back in time and tell your teenage self something, what would you say?
I would tell him that everything is fine, that there is no need to worry about trivial things, that it is okay to do what you please without being accountable to third parties, that everything is fine with me and I don't need to be someone else to make anyone happy and that I can make my own decisions.
Thank you for your kind reading

Quiet life through high school, mine was extremely robust filled with adventure. Each growing up in different surroundings it's always interesting to learn about different styles of those early years.
So glad I got to know more about you, friend!
A powerful initiative.
I'm going to see how I adapt it to some of my initiatives.
Regards, @charjaim
I learn something from your post and other Venezuelans in silver blogger, the parents restriction and the way you enjoyed days with friends and study are simply the best for that time. I was jealous because My mom as old as you but she didn't have a chance to learn how to use computer and blogging like you do, but different people had different interest. My mom is not good at writing but so good at cooking and joking.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, much love
