Merry Christmas everyone! I'm sure that most parents are going to have similar experiences to us! Lots of building going on....

Some kids are lucky, and Santa pre-assembles all their stuff in the middle of the night while he is dropping them off! But our Santa likes their sleep and it means that our kids help assemble everything with us after they open up their boxes.

Now that our older one is more capable, she helps the little one assemble some of her things. But they both help out, even if it is with close supervision.

And some of the instructions can be pretty damn dubious looking... For instance, this particular one where the scale and depth of field is completely screwed!

I'm the end I downloaded the photos of assembled equipment to help us make some sense of the orientation of various bits and pieces... In addition to identifying them. And it turns out that this particular sheet of paper was only a single page from the 4 page digital version!

This was the piece in the middle, which looked flat and has all the screw holes in completely different orientation compared to picture!

Thankfully, we did manage to get everything assembled before it was time to head diem to the big family. Yes, Christmas morning for us, if a family affair of building things!

Merry Christmas!

There's worse ways to be spending Christmas mornings XD

Where's the hammock chair thing going to go?

Haha... the hammock chair thing ended up in her room... but we had to tidy up and rearrange everything. I think in the end, she will need a bunk/desk bed. Importing our Dutch furniture ideas!

Those freaking loft beds. Youngest has one in his room inherited from eldest (who grew out of it and upgraded to a queen). Youngest has also grown out of it but loves the space saving so insists on continuing to squish into it (it's just the guard rails that is the problem, I'm pretty sure the bed is a king single so he would overhang slightly). Changing the sheets is a nightmare so he doesn't want to do it as often as he should be, and I remember having to do it/help eldest to it when he was younger and just aaargh XD

They are definitely good at space efficiency though.

Is she enjoying the hammock chair? I wish I'd been able to find/afford one for youngest when he was younger, think it would have helped him a lot with a lot of things.

and would have needed to get one for the other two as well because they would have wanted one if he had one XD

I remember doing the sheets of those beds in the Netherlands... a nightmare of trying to get the mattress up while you were kneeing down on it... and then smacking your head into the ceiling!

She loves the hammock chair... but it is a come and go sort of thing, as she also loves just sitting in her bed reading! I've gotten to like it though... but it si really hard to get out of!
