I am sorry for the mass tagging. As you know, I never do this (only to remind the chess players about upcoming Hivechess tournaments) but I saw no other way to create the visibility for this experiment that is needed to have an impact.
The concept is very simple: I would like to know what the effect on the Hive price would be if for one week no Hive user would sell a single Hive on exchanges. That´s it.
If as many Hive users as possible participate - only for this week - would it have a noticeble effect on the price?
Or is the selling pressure coming from many other, bigger factors, or will major Bitcoin movements overlay any such effect? If we have luck, BTC goes sideways this week, so one confounding factor less.
Will you get hurt by not selling Hive this week (until this Sunday)? I hope not!
In order to find out, why not start right now, in this week of the @hivefest?
Now that many people are gathering at the main event of Hive in 2024 (and hopefully have done their travel expense spendings already), wouldn´t that experiment not only be possible but also cool? As it is completely community driven, every single Hivian can decide to participate or not. The more join, the better the likelihood of success.
If you like the idea, reblog so that others get aware about it, too.
LET´S MAKE HIVE GREAT AGAIN!
EDIT:
After one week Hive is up 2.5%
In the same time Bitcoin went up 6.4! That means there was no noticeable effect and the experiment failed.
Anyway, many thanks for participating to those who didn´t sell!
Vielen, vielen Dank für diese netten Worte! Der Tag fängt schon gut an, wenn man so etwas liest :)
Gute Einstellung,
das Problem haben Sie richtig erkannt.
Daher braucht unsere Demokratie kluge Köpfe wie Sie.
I've never sold any HIVE, and I've never powered down. In fact, with the current low price, I even bought tickets using fiat.
(yes, I'm kind of crazy, so that's not financial advise)
I am not opposed to the idea ... but remember, @dalz already did the work on this ... until HBD stabilizer and the DHF are doing something different than what they are doing now, then the inflation is going to continue. I'm not going to sell any Hive next week because I'm not going to sell any Hive next week, but if I DID, it would not even dent what Hive's internal mechanisms are responsible for.
I also would like more people to understand: Hive is an altcoin, and altcoins lag Bitcoin tremendously. 90-99 percent of the value comes out in bear markets and throwing effort down that hole won't change it until the market is ready for altcoins to be up. This can be studied and understood from market data.
Now, I also read in these comments that a million people wanted to be here, and people protecting their gravy train drove them off -- if that is true, and every aggrieved person tells seven people, then Hive has a burden other altcoins do not, and it will take serious, focused marketing to overcome it. Hating content creators and blaming them for all that goes wrong has a cost: they are content creators. They talk. That's a problem if that million-number is anywhere near true.
As great as we know Hive is, Hive has to be accountable for its on internal mechanisms, understand its position in in the market and market cycle as an altcoin, and focus on making friends and not enemies. If we can't do that for more than a week, no one else in the world has to be bothered. Not selling Hive is a good idea ... we just need to address the HBD Stabilzer and DHF on that to see real change ... and then hang on and be patient and not alienate newcomers.
Not in the big boy group, but I certainly support. No change needed from me, haven't sold in 6 years.
I love !WEIRD experiments!

Awesome! The more support we get the more awareness and action will happen. Thanks for supporting
One week later.. that's pretty good.
But Bitcoin did go up app. 10%.
So I would consider the experiment as failed.
But the 7 days are not over yet.
I guess I'm in by default. 😀 Haven't sold any HIVE on exchanges in ages. And even within the ecosystem, my direction is usually the other way around, with some short to medium term variations.
Plus, I buy HIVE on the internal market weekly while the price is under 20c.
👍
Forget about selling $HIVE! In fact, I'm buying HIVE once a week with my two alternate accounts that play Splinterlands and unstake $SPS rewards. Over the last 2 unstaking periods, I've bought about 40 HIVE each week. Now my goal is to try and earn the September HPUM award. I got to day 19 in August before I goofed and missed a day. I hope more of my Splinterlands buddies start to spend more time on Hive's other dapps and invest/powerup on the blockchain!
Great. And there are fortunately many like you (including myself) who are accumulating Hive over years. I just wanted to address those who routinely e.g. power down and send to exchanges to pause just for one week and see what happens :)
I'm in. Not that my 70k HP mattered much :)
Cool experiment, also Hive DAO beneficiaries (Splinterlands, inleo, etc) and big Splinterlands players have to participate to see the effect.
I hardly ever use the reblog feature, but for this cause, I have to do it to bring more attention to the urgency of the current Hive price issue.
Hive-on 🚀
I know I am not a target market of your post and simply dont rank to the mentioned persons list, just wanted to note I was not selling a single HIVE for more than 220 weeks, so one more surely will make no problem for me.
I support the idea, one week won't hurt anyone, however it's unlikely that large stakeholders will join in. I'm not even talking about their willingness or not, but because they are large players, they already have a schedule of what to do with their assets, and if a liquidation is on their agenda, it doesn't make sense for their planning to go a week without selling.
Probably, but even large stakeholders should still retain a rest of the community spirit, they once had. And especially for those who can afford, pausing by one week can´t hurt them.
I only sell HIVE once a month, and that time won't be for a while, so I'll gladly take part in this. Hope this experiment comes with good data for us!
Damn, that will be hard - but you are my friend, so let's see what I can do for you. :-)
😂
Bitcoin macht gerade keine Seitwärtsbewegung !LOL
Ich glaube nicht das sich das wirklich bemerkbar machen wird, aber mal abwarten. Bin gespannt.

It's a good thought, but we need people to start buying to have any kind of pump in the price. Holding is great and wonderful, but doesn't really help at all because we need VOLUME, which Hive does NOT have.
Indeed, but less selling could also contribute. For buying there are other initiatives like the @hive.marathon.
It can contribute to a bottom, but to get the price to move the other direction, we need buyers, which means we need volume.
I am not seeing anything that this hive.marathon is doing... I am really hoping it's new because there are only 19 followers and absolutely ZERO content to tell people what it's all about.

typical beginner´s mistake - not reblogging to the own blog.
Great experiment. Reblogged!
Ich bin gespannt was passiert. Coole Idee auf jeden Fall.
I’m not the one selling.
I didn´t mean to accuse people!
Well, I can manage about it since I have no plan of selling Hive until it reach 0.30 again.😊😁 I hope everyone will participate on your experiment. 😊 Good luck.😊
Are these guys you mentioned seling Hive ongoing? I am sure @twinner is none of them at least.
Not at all, I mentioned them as they are all with a lot of stake.
But some are indeed selling.
I don't want to sound bad or anything like that, but have you ever looked at the amount that comes out of some large accounts? You could get five members of that group you mentioned together, and it wouldn't take just one transfer from one of the accounts. You could see some shipments to binance on the account @hot1.dunamu
@hot1.dunamu is an exchange account, not a Hive user.
That's what I meant, people dumping a lot more than those mentioned. I don't see what would change.
This is an excellent point. Some of the whales do not know that quite a few of the rest of us know the names of the exchange accounts ... so while they tell us to do one thing, we know they are doing another.

I can stop selling for infrastructure costs but I can't stop donations for medical and food emergencies. There's currently a baby in critical condition and I'm waiting to hear what's needed. That amount must be sold so the baby can live, everything else can remain.
Of course, there are always exceptions!
Didn't save anything, all went to oxygen tanks, other medicine and a bit of food for different people.
