Eating Fresh Pomegranate with the HIVE Familia

A Beautiful Day at Casa Frida - Valle De Guadalupe - Ensenada, Mexico
HiveFest 2023

After the two days of conferences, the @hivefest entourage took an excursion to Valle De Guadalupe, a wine valley in Ensenada, Mexico. We visited a couple of vineyards, where we did a bit of wine and tequila tasting before having a delicious dinner at Decantos Vinacola. The first vineyard we stopped at was Casa Frida, named after the notorious Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.

It was a beautiful day, so @dylanhobalart, @intothewild, @misslasvegas and I decided to take a walk around the area and explore a bit. We came across a bunch of fruit trees, loaded with fresh fruit, some of which looked ripe and ready to eat. A vineyard employee was walking by and @intothewild asked if we were about to pick and try one of the pomegranates. The employee picked us a nice one and we enjoyed it on our walk.

Above is a look at the inside of the Pomegranate. The seeds are the edible portion of the fruit. They had a sweet, delicious flavor and made for a perfect snack on a hot sunny day in the valley. We continued to walk around and explore the place.

Casa Frida is also an Airbnb location with rentals available for those who wish to stay at the vineyard. They had some nice outdoor bars and a restaurant for guests and overall the location was gorgeous. Below is a selfie I took in a cool mirror that I found on our walk.

We stumbled across the odd lookin' fellow seen in the photo below. Not quite sure what his species was... perhaps a bear? Maybe an ardvark? I don't know... but he had a parrot friend with him and he was carved out of one single log of wood. Pretty impressive work of art. Mexico was absolutely loaded with amazing art of all different styles.

After walking around and exploring a bit, we went back up to the restaurant and outdoor bar area to enjoy a few drinks. Below is a photo of me with the legendary @dylanhoblart out on the deck with a drink. I was drinking Cuba Libres (Rum, Coke and a Lime) during that photo, but I was switching it up a lot during the trip. The sunshine and weather was brilliant that day, and sitting outside with a good drink felt righteous.

Below is a photo of @dylanhobalart, @misslasvegas, @intothewild and I, before we went off on our little journey into the vineyard. The door to Casa Frida was loaded with mirrors and made for a great photo opportunity. @dylanhobalart, @misslasvegas and I took LOTS of group photos over the course of the trip.

Overall, the trip to Valle de Guadalupe was probably one of my favorite days of @hivefest. The weather was perfect and the locations throughout the day were top notch. It was an epic experience eating fresh pomegranate straight from the tree with my HIVE familia... and that was just one of the many great moments in the day.

That was a sick spot bro! Those poms were delicious! I think the few of us got the best experience walking around like we did. One of the best days for sure.
