introducing myself
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
My name is Azumurana Emonena (nicknamed Nena) and I come from Nigeria (yes, the country with afrobeats and a rich culture). I’m in my early 20’s and I am an introvert with a love of food, books and music in that order. It’s safe to say that my hobbies are reading, cooking and listening to music. As an introvert, I tend to be a quiet observer, preferring to listen and think before contributing to conversations. I can be quite reserved in new social settings, but once I let go, I am friendly and engaging. One thing I’ve been told by family and close friends is I can be quite witty and sarcastic (all in good nature I assure you).
I come from a close-knit family that consists of five totally different people. My dad is into art as he owns his own gallery located in Ikoyi named Thoughts Pyramid. He is an arts Consultant that takes his business very seriously.
My mum is a splendid caterer that caters to large events and ultimately whom I learned how to cook from. I have an elder sister, an exquisite fashion designer who is very caring, but can also be stern when needed and a younger brother with a penchant for annoying or disturbing me. He is also into art like my dad and has a knack for drawing. Yes, I am a middle child and there are a lot of stereotypes involving middle children like me; like the fact that we tend to be overlooked, rebellious, peacemakers, underachievers or overachievers or even forgotten. All I can say (or write) is some pertain to me and others don’t.
I’m a hospitality student that schooled in Wavecrest College of Hospitality, a private monotechnic that has won the best monotechnic award for 3 years consecutively. Therefore, I’ve been able to work in different sectors of the hospitality industry like 4-star hotels and restaurants, as different positions because the hospitality industry is just that broad and diverse.
I was interested in the hospitality industry because I've always been obsessed with the idea of owning a restaurant and hopefully that dream gets realized pretty soon. Presently, I’m working at a casual dining restaurant as a cashier which has a lot of responsibilities than one could have ever imagined as a cashier. It's more than just providing excellent customer service and handling cash transactions efficiently which is fun all the same. Ive been able to tearm more about teamwork, time management, customer service, multitasking and so many other soft skills.
HOW I DISCOVERED HIVE
I was introduced to Hive by @omachi213 who spoke highly of the community and its potential. I was doubtful at first to be honest, because I’ve had some bad experience with online communities, but when I learned more about the community, discovering that I could publish and read original content, I was hooked. I asked a lot of questions about the community because I’m inquisitive like that, but she answered and made sure I understood them. With that, I was good to go.
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH SPEND HBD
The first two times I tried to spend HBD, the network was poor so it didn’t work out. My fellow Nigerians would ask if my village people were following me. But I am certain that was not the case. I didn’t give up though and neither did @omachi213. After some weeks, when we were both less busy, we decided to try again and yes! It finally worked this time around. I purchased a usb cord with hbd at @MikeOLink The cord was purchased at 1.200 Hive Dive Dollars and I claimed 0.240 Hive Dollars (20% of 1.200 Hive Dollars)
It was a fun and wonderful experience all in all.
