Opuntia monacantha is commonly known as drooping prickly pear, cochineal prickly pear, or Barbary fig which is a species of plant in the family of Cactaceae, native to the South America.

It's a succulent, thorny shrub that usually grows almost tree-like with several branches & profusely expanded cool crown in branches that reaches a height of up to 4 meters.
The oval to cool elongated shoots narrowed at the base are normally shiny green which quite thin and four to eight inches long.

The widely spaced cool areoles have more brownish glochids.
