An affectionate greeting to the open microphone community. In this week #248, we explore the theme: "Step by step." I am pleased to share my interpretation with the «Yesterday Once More» , a beautiful ballad played by the Duo Carpers. I am sure they will remember the voices of the Richard brothers and Karen Carpenter. This song was composed of Richard and John Bettis, and was included in the album "Now & Then" of The Carpents, released in 1973. His melody is lovely, it is as if you knew her all life. I confess that today, while looking for a song to play, I found this piece. First I found a more Bossa Nova version, and finally a version closer to the original. The lyrics talk about youth and the influence of music on happy memories. I like rhythm with a soft battery accompaniment. The tempo is moderate and relaxed.

When I think of the phrase "step by step", the learning process comes to mind. I see our brain as a great computer in which we store values, knowledge and skills. I consider that we are an amazing creation, which includes the complexity of our mind, and of the different systems that support our life. Computers have their storage limits; However, the brain has no limits. Now, in our case, the way to process the data is different from a computer and in each person. Programming us requires time, and a step by step process. You imagine, that in a utopian world we go to bed, and connect to us with an amount of knowledge while we sleep, and when we wake up the next day we already know how to be doctors, architects, astronauts and scientists. Step by step is a constant and diligent process. As we progress, on a learning ladder, the steps we have left have already been overcome.I hope that this year you can see your goals fulfilled step by step.

Yesterday Once More

When I was young, I'd listen to the radio
Waitin' for my favorite songs
When they played, I'd sing along
It made me smile

Those were such happy times
And not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
But they're back again
Just like a long-lost friend
All the songs I loved so well

Every "sha-la-la-la"
Every "whoa, whoa-oh" still shines
Every "shing-a-ling-a-ling"
That they're starting to sing so fine
When they get to the part
Where he's breaking her heart
It can really make me cry
Just like before, it's yesterday once more
(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang)
(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang)

Lookin' back on how it was in years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed

It was songs of love
That I would sing to them
And I'd memorize each word
Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away

Every "sha-la-la-la"
Every "whoa, whoa-oh" still shines
(Only oldies, but goodies)
Every "shing-a-ling-a-ling"
That they're starting to sing so fine
All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry
Just like before, it's yesterday once more
(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang)

Every "sha-la-la-la"
Every "whoa, whoa-oh" still shines
Every "shing-a-ling-a-ling"
That they're starting to sing so fine
Every "sha-la-la-la"
Every "whoa, whoa-oh" still shines
Every "shing-a-ling-a-ling"
That they're starting to sing so fine...
