Hive Open Mic Week 134 Forgiveness (Cover )Sorry seems to Be The Hardest Word

in Hive Open Mic2 years ago

It's not always easy to tell someone you're sorry is it? In fact saying sorry to someone doesn't undo any hurt you may have caused that person and so it can seem like such an empty word.

In England we have a habit of saying sorry all the time about the smallest things...like if you are walking down the road and someone is walking towards you...you both step in the same direction to avoid each other's path..and both immediately say 'sorry'. I think that this overuse and the insincerity of the word in that kind of context means that 'sorry' is somehow diminished in its meaning and intention. I've started to say 'excuse me' instead. I like it better.

Forgiving someone can be much harder than apologising I think. There is some hurt that we hold on to for a long time and sometimes we even hold on to it forever, no matter how unhealthy that might be.

Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote the song I'm singing this week. I hope you enjoy it.

Haha, yes, 'sorry' is surely an easy word over here!
Although, we Germans aren't known for saying 'sorry', we do!
We use the German equivalent of 'excuse me' and 'sorry' for more personal matters, just as you suggest there..
Love this song and your version of it! Beautiful!

Thank you Anke xx

Ah, haha - why didn't I think of this one? Glad somebody did - well done on another great performance!

Thank you. Classic song. I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone else doing it this week.

Apologizing sure is difficult but forgiveness is a tougher nut to crack ain't it? I really love the melody of this song. It's a must-check-out for me now. Beautiful presentation yet again 🤩❤️❤️

Thank you for listening to it. It's a lovely song.

Hermosa presentación amiga , tocas muy bien me encantó

Muchas gracias por tu amable comentario.

Lovely. Elton does have some cracking tunes and you can do this one justice. Very apt for the topic.

Can't go wrong with a Bit of Elton, especially on the piano. Thank you for your compliment Steve.

What a magnificent performance! Excellent execution accompanied by that great voice that makes you fall in love! Thank you so much for bringing this heartfelt and valuable entry to the community!!!

In relation to your lines, well yes, it is not easy to talk about forgiveness and less when someone has done something wrong to us, but I cling to believe that if we do not let go of this, over time we will create a root of bitterness in our heart to the point of causing anger and rancor! And these things don't do us any good! I apologize, it is my opinion.

To forgive is not to forget, so this will never happen, this is achieved with time and the wounds can only be healed!

Nice to have been in this entry!

Blessings friend!

Thank you so much for your kind comments and for listening to my recording. Yes I agree that holding on to resentment is a bad thing. Forgiving others and also forgiving yourself is so important.

Thanks to you for always being there! A hug

This was the song that came across my mind when I saw the topic for this week :))
You did a brilliant cover! 😍

Thank you so much for you kind comment..for me there was no other choice really. I'm thinking I'm probably going to write and arrangement of it for my choir now I've reminded myself of it.

You're such a pro at what you do...you inspire me, I love how gracefully you perform and sing... you are really awesome and hopefully one day I get an opportunity to make music with you..Thanks for sharing this ma'am, totally loved it🤍

Thank you so much for your kind words.

You're welcome ma'am... keep blessing our ears

Sometimes for peace to reign, we just have to lower our pride and use the sorry word

Friend @purplesinger, she plays the piano excellent and also has a voice that makes you fall in love

Thank you for your encouragement.

Great playing and singing. I think it's a great idea to arrange it for the choir. Lovely performance - thank you!

Thank you Danielle. There's a lovely moment in Rocketman where this song is sung chorally. It's really beautiful though very short. I wish they had done the whole song...

They're all sitting down singing - apparently it was the Crouch End Festival Chorus who also sang on Waterloo Sunset with Ray Davies! It does sound great on the soundtrack -- I'm sure your arrangement for Alive and Singing will rock.

I think a friend of mine was singing on that. He's done a few things with them.
