Hive Open Mic Wk #97: My Way Back-(My First ORIGINAL) / ¡My Way Back-(Mi primera ORIGINAL) {ENG-ESP}

Hey loves,
Today is a very special yet emotional day for me. I never ever thought this day would come for several reasons. I used to write songs as a child but I was not confident to release them or share them with others. I just thought it was not good enough and who would even enjoy my song.

As I grew older, I became a confident singer especially in classical music but I dropped writing songs as I just believed it was not for me. People asked me all the time to do my own songs but I would laugh it off because I felt they were not serious. The truth is they were but I was not.

I was scared! Scared of failing, scared of not being good enough, scared of not being musically perfect, scared of the opinions of others, scared of the nay-sayers and critics, just scared of being my true musical self.

Joining the Hive Open Mic community renewed a deeper love of music for me. Just like when I was little and I looked forward to writing my imperfect lyrics, again I started to have that burning desire.

I want to sincerely appreciate @cabelindsay, @mipiano, @ylich, and @jesuslnr from the bottom of my heart for being a constant support and encouragement to me since I became a part of this musical family. We have no idea how much even the littlest supports go a long way to motivating others and you did that for me greatly. Also, I have been inspired by so many great musicians in this community. I don’t want to tag a lot of people in this post but I am super grateful.

In line with this week’s theme, “Lost” I wrote and performed my own original song, My Way Back. This song simply talks about someone who is lost and did not know how they got to that point. However, they reassure themselves of getting back on course and finding their way back. The melody is not perfect. It’s more of a freestyle. There is more fine-tuning and improvement to be done but I believe there is potential.

Hoy es un día muy especial y emotivo para mí. Nunca pensé que este día llegaría por varias razones. Solía escribir canciones cuando era niño, pero no tenía confianza para publicarlas o compartirlas con los demás. Pensaba que no era lo suficientemente buena y que a quién le iba a gustar mi canción.

Cuando crecí, me convertí en una cantante segura, sobre todo de música clásica, pero dejé de escribir canciones porque creía que no era para mí. La gente me pedía siempre que hiciera mis propias canciones, pero yo me reía porque creía que no iban en serio. La verdad es que sí lo eran, pero yo no.

Tenía miedo. Miedo a fracasar, miedo a no ser lo suficientemente bueno, miedo a no ser musicalmente perfecto, miedo a las opiniones de los demás, miedo a los detractores y críticos, simplemente miedo a ser mi verdadero yo musical.

Unirme a la comunidad de Hive Open Mic renovó mi amor por la música. Al igual que cuando era pequeña y ansiaba escribir mis imperfectas letras, de nuevo empecé a tener ese ardiente deseo.

Quiero agradecer sinceramente a @cabelindsay, @mipiano, @ylich, y @jesuslnr desde el fondo de mi corazón por ser un apoyo y un estímulo constante para mí desde que formé parte de esta familia musical. No tenemos ni idea de lo mucho que los apoyos más pequeños ayudan a motivar a los demás y vosotros lo habéis hecho por mí en gran medida. Además, me he inspirado en tantos grandes músicos de esta comunidad. No quiero etiquetar a mucha gente en este post pero estoy súper agradecida.

En línea con el tema de esta semana, "Lost", escribí e interpreté mi propia canción original, My Way Back. Esta canción habla simplemente de alguien que está perdido y no sabe cómo ha llegado a ese punto. Sin embargo, se tranquiliza a sí mismo para retomar el rumbo y encontrar el camino de vuelta. La melodía no es perfecta. Es más bien un estilo libre. Hay que afinarla y mejorarla, pero creo que tiene potential.
