Open Mic #168: Música para niños. Cover Mi Tripón de Otilio Galindez @juanpth

Hello dear friends of the Hive Open Mic community! Week #168: “Music for Children“.
How difficult it has been to choose the theme because, many of our composers, Venezuelans, have dedicated part of their work to children, among which stand out: Conny Méndez, Simón Díaz, Iván Pérez Rossi and Otilio Galíndez, among others. In addition, we can point out the compilation work done by maestro Vicente Emilio Sojo (composer, arranger and compiler of Venezuelan music) and several of his students, who generated several written works, songbooks with their scores: for instruments, solo singers and choirs. And one of the most important, I consider, for children, is the school children’s songbook that includes a book and a record for each grade of basic education, entitled “My School Songs“.
With all this information it was not easy to choose a song, but finally I decided on one of the great singer-songwriter Otilio Galindez from Yaracuyano (the name of the Yaracuy-born in the state of Yaracuy - Venezuela).
From Otilio I know his “Pueblos Tristes“, with his “Flor de Mayo“, and his “Luna Decembrina“, passing through “Caramba“, “Son Chispitas“, “Ahora“ and the one I sing, for my children and for all of you, “Mi Tripón“. His work is full of diverse Venezuelan rhythms and musical genres: Christmas songs, aguinaldos and parrandas, as well as waltzes, bambucos, galerones, tonadas, merengues, joropo, and the one that concerns us here, canción de cuna.
Mi tripón, which for Venezuelans means child or small boy, could also be thought of as barrigón; it is a beautiful lullaby, with a great poetry and melody, which, rhetorically, plays between minor and major tonalities, to achieve the desired atmosphere. The first part is in minor, calling the child to sleep and to trick the bogeyman (fictitious creature used to scare children who do not want to sleep). But it changes to a major key to tell the reward he will have the next day, of course if he stays asleep.
I have prepared my version based on a harmonization for guitar by maestro Luis Zea, here is the cipher:

¡Hola queridos amigos y amigas de la comunidad Hive Open Mic! Semana #168: “Música para Niños“
Que difícil ha sido escoger el tema porque, muchos de nuestros compositores, venezolanos, han dedicado parte de su obra a los niños, entre los que destacan: Conny Méndez, Simón Díaz, Iván Pérez Rossi y Otilio Galíndez, entre otros. Además, podemos señalar el trabajo de recopilación realizado por el maestro Vicente Emilio Sojo (compositor, arreglista y recopilador de música venezolana) y varios de sus estudiantes, quienes generaron varias obras escritas, cancioneros con sus partituras: para instrumentos, cantantes solistas y coros. Y uno de los que considero más importantes, para los niños, es el cancionero infantil escolar que contempla un libro y un disco para cada grado de la educación básica, titulado “Mis canciones Escolares”.
Con toda esta información no era fácil, escoger una canción, pero finalmente me decidí por una del gran cantautor yaracuyano (gentilicio del nacido en el estado Yaracuy - Venezuela) Otilio Galíndez.
De Otilio conozco sus “Pueblos Tristes”, con su “Flor de Mayo”, y su “Luna Decembrina”, pasando por “Caramba”, “Son Chispitas”, “Ahora” y la que canto, para mis hijos y para todos ustedes, “Mi Tripón”. Su obra está llena de diversos ritmos y géneros musicalesvenezolanos: canciones navideñas, los aguinaldos y las parrandas, y también, valses, bambucos, galerones, tonadas, merengues, joropo, y la que nos ocupa, canción de cuna.
Mi tripón, que para los venezolanos quiere decir niño o muchacho pequeño, podría pensarse también como barrigón; es una hermosa canción de cuna, con una gran poesía y melodía, la cual, juego, retóricamente, entre las tonalidades menor – mayor, para lograr el ambiente deseado. La primera parte está en menor, llamando al niño a dormir y a engañar al coco (criatura ficticia que se usa para asustar a los niños que no quieren dormir). Pero cambia a tonalidad mayor para decir la recompensa que tendrá al día siguiente, claro está si se queda dormido.
He preparado mi versión a partir de una armonización para guitarra del maestro Luis Zea por acá les dejo el cifrado:
