Hello again, greetings and welcome to the 296th edition of Hive Open Mic. My name is @coderaikiri and this is my entry for this week. I will be performing an acapella cover to the song Remember Me by the South African reggae artist Lucky Dube
Growing up with a father who so happens to be a big time lucky Dube fan influenced me into becoming a big time lover of his gospel. The theme for the week "I will return" is not really synonymous to the sound REMEMBER ME but there is some level of relationship between the both. The song does not really speak about the artist coming but wishing for the return of his father. This is the song of a man who at a very young age his father left home to the city in search of greener pastures but never returns back home. His mother who is his only relative dies of heart attack when she hears that her husband remarried making him the only one left in the family.
In the story, he doesn't just wait for the return of his father but takes it an extra step by looking for him yet his father's new wife keeps interfering in this search so he prays constantly that his father comes back one day .
The song is a heartfelt plea from a boy who obviously misses his dad. Stay tuned and enjoy this .
Thank you.
LYRICS
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
In whatever you do
I love you
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
In whatever you do
I love you
You left for the city
Many years ago
Promised to come back
And take care of us
Many years have gone by now
Still no sign of you, Daddy
Mother died of a heart attack
Many years ago
When she heard
That you were married again
Now I'm the only one left
In the family
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
In whatever you do
I love you
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
In whatever you do
I love you
Wandering up and down
The streets of Soweto
No place to call my home
I tried to find you
Many years ago
But the woman you're married to
Was no good at all
(Daddy, oh)
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
(Remember me)
In whatever you do
I love you
(Daddy, oh)
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
(Daddy, oh)
In whatever you do
I love you
(Daddy, oh)
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
(Daddy, oh)
In whatever you do
I love you
(Daddy, oh)
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
(Remember me)
In whatever you do
I love you
(Daddy, oh)
Daddy, wherever you are
Remember me
In whatever you do
I love you
(Yeah)
