Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a global community celebrating live music on Hive. Each week is a new event, encouraging musicians to share songs with an international audience.
This week's Hive Open Mic theme is: Nuevos Tiempos. In English, this means: New Times. One of the songs that I carry speaks of the new people for the new era, envisioning the the union of all nations. To me, this is what our Hive Open Mic community is all about.
This song originated after being in a ceremony with an indigenous tribe from the Amazon rainforest called Yawanawa. They visited our community, sharing their songs, and showing their customs. Years later, I still have flashbacks from this event blazed on my mind, and in fact, I wear a beaded bracelet every day, reminding me of those people and that inspiring way they live.

I love all the atmosphere that always surrounds you, having been with that tribe must have given you a lot of learning about how they see life, and from what I see the path is always peace and the union of peoples. In fact if this song was inspired by that experience then congratulations, because it is very good. Thank you for always sharing the details behind each one of your compositions...
This song is very much inspired by that experience, even down to the way they played guitar, and the visioning too. We circled up in a field, so we could all see each other... There's so much more to the story too. Much of what I experienced was mystical, and spiritual, and profound. I hope everyone has a chance to experience music in a big medicine song circle like that. It is very transparent, and easy to recognize in you, as you are acting with respect and love towards everyone. Lucky all those who have the opportunity to experience it!
Unity is the only thing that will keep us safe on this earth, it is our home and we must make merits to correct the big mistakes we are making. We love this song that calls us to brotherhood. Blessings!
Oh yeah, I'm with you in that thought. We need our tribes and our families and our friends, and we must honor the earth just as we honor ourselves. It's the only way we will survive, as you say. And hopefully we will keep our environment thriving for future generations too. We'll have to work together to make that happen.
What an interesting experience you had with that Amazon tribe, I would have liked to know more details. Really those are the experiences that nourish us when we connect with other cultures, I think that connection is what gives us knowledge. Just as many have had a connection with the indigenous people and have learned from their knowledge, the same has happened with more ancient cultures such as the Indu or those of some Asian country. The fact that you can have a vision of this community as something similar to these encounters seems to me accurate and wonderful, since here we also nourish each other.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. Yeah, I'm fortunate to have experienced a lot of ceremonies with indigenous cultures over the years. It is a rare opportunity. I remember my first time entering a tipi, and feeling so lucky to see inside, and to sit alongside these folks whose customs were completely different from my own, and yet their hearts and minds and human qualities were the very same. They always treated me like a brother, or a nephew, and welcomed me into their circles. To me, that is a good example of a compassionate human being - one who welcomes another openly as a relative.
By the way, the quartz hammer at the top left of the video is super cool! It's too brutal that object, did you make it yourself? I would feel like Thor with an instrument like that. 🤣🤩
Yeah, that hammer is awesome. Much like Thor's hammer, yes! In fact, I waited about a year before I ever touched it, because it felt intimidating to me. That instrument was crafted by an artist woman in Ireland and given to a sister-friend, who didn't know what to do with it, so it ended up in my home and we gave it lots of respect and love. And eventually, I held it and prayed with it, and now I have the honor of carrying it. Thanks for noticing!

I noticed there was a little issue with the video (audio and video are out of sync) but i still enjoyed it a lot, this one has a very moving rythm, like it kinda makes you wanna dance sor something. Wow. Very nice piece. As I listened to it, I thought it sounded very traditional, almost like a chant. Then I read the description after the song ended only to find out that that's exactly the kind of atmosphère that inspired the piece. Imagine my surprise at the conincidence😅.

The traditions of the people who live in those areas are very disturbing, I say this in the sense that they give me too much curiosity and most of the time they have an immense wisdom in the background of their customs, it is very nice that you always remember that moment you lived with those people, I like this rhythm is like very pure to connect with nature x.x Greetings friend!
