".. so they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue.. "
Yes, I know, another Carpenter's song.. but how could I resist those lyrics for an Open Mic with the theme of Luz de Estrellas? See?
It's a marvel of a song, brilliantly crafted by Bert Bacharach and in 1970 beautifully sung by Karen Carpenter with her very special voice. The song has been covered loads of times, including here on Hive, where I've seen @eugelys doing a lovely collaboration last year.
My own version has ended up slightly faster, something that needs ironing out with the next recording; I've tried to add some vocal layers on this one, which I haven't done for some time, but I think it works well with most of the Carpenters songs.
This is a brand new song, so I won't do the key change yet as in the original, but I think it works without that just fine for now.
Hope, you like it and, as always: Thanks for listening!
Edit
It appears that Mr Bacharach passed away on Wednesday.. 😔

Ahhhh.... starlight and kittens (or puppies). Warming as a mug of homemade tomato soup. Sparkly soup! Really enjoyed this one - I always like your Carpenters covers; they really suit you.
What she said!
😄
Aww, thanks, Danielle!
They do feel good for me to sing..
😍😄
Absolutely love it
Although Hal Blain was the drummer on most of The Carpenters' hits, I still love the fact Karen Anne Carpenter was such a talented drummer (and singer of course).
You are too :)
Absolutely! Me too!
That's how she started. I love watching videos with her drumming.
So much energy and passion!
Simply wonderful!
Thank you! 😀
I love your covers. They always get me picking up my acoustic and playing along, or trying to, I stumbled a bit on the b minor, or was it a b7? I couldn't totally tell but that's more me than you! I still had a lot of fun.
Keep on rocking milady!
haha, that's so cool!
We should have a jamming session some time, we Northerners.. haha
It's Bm and Bm7 on the verse, just Bm on the chorus.
Thank you! Glad you like this one! After all, it IS a Carpenters.. 😉😄
Hehe, I was thinking it would be great to jam with you! Northerners rule!
Ah that explains it. I could see your finger moving and was like, is that a B7 or Bm7 and getting myself inn knots, lol! That the joy of playing!
😄

It's truly a beautiful song beautifully done by you. Cheers 🥂
Indeed it worked out fine dear friend even without the key change. You are amazing each time you bring forth your posts here.
I love this and I really commend your efforts.
Thank you so much, Victor!
It took a little longer to put together with those extra layers, but you know all about the trouble with multi-tracks, don't you? 😉😃
Glad it worked out quite well and that you like it!
Yea, I do really understand how tasky it can be with multi tracks. I really loved it
